If you don’t like the way the birdcage veil looked at your hair trial, you’re not going to love the way it looks on your wedding day either 🙁 I too was a birdcage veil lover – in theory. I was in the exact same situation as you. I bought a cage veil I loved, put it on with my hair done, and just didn’t like the way it looked. I didn’t wear it for my wedding, and while I love them when I see pictures of other brides rocking them, I don’t regret my decision. If you’re really set on wearing it a little, could you put it on toward the end of your reception and leave it on until the end? Then you’d have some pictures in it and wouldn’t have to worry about what your hair looks like when you take it out.

Did the birdcage look ok in your hair?  Just when you pulled it out it looked funky?  Have you thought about wearing it all night?  I didn’t think I would want to wear my birdcage all night, but on the day of, I couldn’t imagine taking it off, I didn’t want to!  So I just wore it all night, it didn’t bother me a bit.  But depending on the type of birdcage you have it might be more difficult to do that.  If you don’t love it, don’t do it.  You don’t have to have a veil.  If you can’t find something you like go veil-less.  You could get a cool fascinator or something instead.

I have super fine hair, too, and I did both types of veils – it’s just what makes you comfortable!

Yeah, I was just going to suggest wearing it during the reception.  Did you take pics though?  Maybe your friends and family will help figure out if it really did look off.
