Hey, will you (or did you) wear your veil for the first dance? Maybe the father/daugther dance also? I have seen it both ways but don’t know if there is any reason behind either… Practical vs romantic?

I took my veil off after half of our pictures were over with. I just didn’t want to deal with people possibly tugging on it once I got the reception. So no, I didn’t wear it for the first dance.
I think this is more of a “whatever you want to do” type of thing. It also depends on the type of veil you are wearing. If it is a cathedral length then you will have to wrap the end around your arm because I could see it just getting tangled up if you let it drag on the floor during your spotlight dances.

I had planned on taking my veil off right after the ceremony, but ended up wearing it through the cocktail hour and halfway through the reception (including during the first dance and the father/daughter dance). I had a two layer veil, about elbow length. I kept mine on for so long because I just loved wearing it.

I took off the veil after the pictures following the ceremony but before cocktail hour. It was so hot out! I kicked off the heels at the same time. The veil kept catching on the rhinestones of the dress and it was irratating, I kept jerking my head and having to dislodge it. Just play if by ear on how you feel comfortable on your day

I took mine off part way through our pictures, but my veil was a 3 tiered cathedral length beast so I never planned to wear it after pictures.

I took it off after the first dance and father/daughter dance. My veil was single layer, and fingertip legnth. I just loved it so much, I didn’t want to take it off until I had to. But I definitely wanted it off for the fun dancing for the rest of the evening. I’m glad I waited until then, I liked seeing it in the first dance pics. 🙂
So it’s definitely whatever you prefer that day. If it’s not bothering you, maybe leave it on for those special dances – if it is, then take it off!

I think I meant to keep my shoulder length veil on for the first dance, but I forgot.
I put it on right before the ceremony and took it off after our post-ceremony pics because it was snagging on the beading along the top of my dress in the back. On the bright side, I loved my hair which it covered, but I do think it would have looked nice for the first dance photos. Oh well, the video of our first dance is still adorable 🙂

I had my veil on for the first dance with my husband and then I took it off 🙂

I’m not sure if I’ll wear my veil after our first dance. I’ll be skipping the father-daughter dance since mine passed away a few yrs back. I have a cathedral drop veil that I should be able to adjust at will if my plans work out. I’ll be attaching it with a hat pin on a loose wire veiling comb. I’m planning to bustle it right before we walk in for reception. The only problem is if I can train my new hubby on how to bustle that veil with a second hat pin. If I’m right, I could probably get that veil up to somewhere between fingertip and waltz length.

Mine is cathedral so I probably have to hold it while the first dance.

Most brides I know only wear the veil for the ceremony and take it off for the reception.
