I don’t think the veil your mom wants sounds like it goes at all with the look you want.  This is one of those things where in the end, what you like is more important than what your mom likes.  For me, the pictured birdcage is a little spidery, but a birdcage veil would be beautiful!

I love birdcage veils, but I understand why some people don’t. I think it go fine with your dress. It doesn’t scream birdcage to me, but it could work.

A compromise might be something like a mantila veil. More vintage looking with more interest than a traditional veil but not quite as unique as a birdcage.

What about one with a flower or jeweled applique and no feathers?  I’m sure you could find something on etsy, they have everything!

Also, I think the one you posted would be beautiful without the long, skinny feathers.  The bigger ones underneath look like a flower, and the bling is kind of vintage-y.

not to offend anyone, but i don’t like fingertip length veils at all! for some reason i can’t stand them…maybe because they seem overdone? i prefer cathedral/chapel length, birdcage, mantillas, or bubble veils.

Go with the birdcage.  Your mom will get over it.  My mom really wanted me to have a long veil but I went with the birdcage I wanted.  After the wedding she said “you were right about some of the stuff I thought I didn’t like.  The birdcage veil looked perfect.”  So there you go!  Plus I think the style matches your dress wonderfully.
