Veils are kind of a personal preference.  Me personally?  I went for veils that weren’t so “poofy” – my consultant told me I was looking at what she called “column veils” – they just hung straight down and stayed behind me.  I don’t think that’s what they’re actually called, but they are the kind that aren’t tiered and don’t start off short and get longer as they go to the back.  I didn’t want it over my shoulders or poofing out around me.  But I also liked the ones that had beading/crystals around the edges.  It just depends what you like……

I always think that when in doubt, simpler is better.  If your dress has a lot of beading up top, maybe stick with a simpler shape veil that won’t take away from your dress, or one that doesn’t have that ribbon edge to it.

@sarahbabs:  You’re welcome.  Now that I know you don’t mind your arms being covered a little, and given the style of dress you have, maybe a nice elbow length veil would look pretty – one that is tiered so that it frames your face a bit and covers your shoulders/upper arms, but ends around your waistline – like the one you have on in the picture.  I think some light beading would be really pretty and compliment your dress without taking away from the beautiful neckline and beadwork.

I also think you could totally rock a simple, plain cathedral length veil with your dress.  It’s just my personal opinion, but I’m having a hard time envisioning your dress with a fingertip length veil – I don’t know if that length would look right.  Good luck!  Let us know what you end up with!

I have 2 immediate instincts:

1)  Definitely raw edge, unfinished, simple!

2)  Elbow would be okay, but I think cathedral would be STUNNING! πŸ˜€

I agree with @pengoala:  cathedral would be beautiful on you and with this dress!

Did you get your dress at RK Bridal?  I recognize it from going there so many times.  I would probably opt for a Cathedral length veil with a pencil edge.

I can’t pinpoint exactly why I feel this way, but I think a longer veil would look better.  The one in the pic seems to almost cut you off at the torso or something.  I agree with you that simple is better so it won’t take away from your dress  =o)

@sarahbabs:  I think if you go with a cathedral length veil, it should be longer than your train.
