Hey!  I ordered Geraldine last weekend and am so excited!!  I have also gone with the ivory over light gold.

I tried a few veils on but suprisingly felt any with lace detailing detracted from the stunning dress.  In the end I went with a very plain veil with double satin trim.  The trim picks out the satin waist band really well, yet because its so simple you dont miss any of the detailing on the back of the dess.

I went finger tip length, but that’s totally a personal preference thing.

Hope this helps.  Let me know how you get on.

I have the same dress also in the ivory over gold and having the same issue at the moment about whether to have a veil or not as it will be so hard to find one that matches but does not look to much with the dress. My mum thinks that I should just get a pretty vintagy side design headband and I do like that idea but I would like a veil for the ceremony.

Could you post a pic of your veil?

Hey

I reckon a vintage side design headband would look lovely.  I wasn’t going to have a veil (civil ceremony) but decided that as it will be my only opportunity…!

The veil I choose is a Paloma Blanca deisgn – V421 – its on their website but it wont let me save the picture.  I don’t have any of it with Geraline either.  Sorry 🙁

The wavvy shape looks quite flattering around the face.  And as you can see its really sheer so you can see the beautiful lace and satin waist band through. I also liked the idea of having something over the tops of my arms, not my most favoured body part!

I plan to have my hair half up (a request from the groom that its isn’t totally up!) maybe in waves/curls which I thought would match the wavvy veil??  I will probably have a bit of subtle bling in my hair too.  Might as well go all out!!

Let me know what you decide.

That sounds really lovely 🙂

I also thought about having something on my arms, its only really the last few weeks that i have started to wish that my dress had little cap sleeves or something.

I was the same with the veil, we are having a Humanist ceremony, as we are not religious people so I wasnt going to have a veil but then I thought i might like to have one hanging down at the back.

So many decisions to make still. hehe. All so exciting though 😀

Yay! I found all my dress people!  I got the Geraldine in ivory over light gold, and I did a completely plain, cathedral length veil.  I like that it doesn’t compete with any of the amazing details on the dress, and it matches the length of the train in the back for extra drama.

@MrsM-to-b: I just looked up your veil, and I kinda have veil envy now! Holy cow!

Your dress has so much beautiful detailing, I would be worried as mantilla veils look so totally ornate. I would go with a more simple veil if I was you.

I feel mantillas are so beautiful (I wish I could have one), but mostly only work for super simple dresses or ornately over the top or hispanic and religious ceremonies. Just a thought. Plain veils don’t look as gorgeous on their own but might compliment your beauty and dress better?

Now that I read you’re getting married at a vineyard and love cathedral veils even though you’re worried it’s too ‘formal’, why not get a gorgeous super sheer cathedral veil? It doesn’t need the detail of a mantilla veil, but will be rad because of its length… yet not too formal since it’s not decal’d out with lace/bling and such.

I just ordered and received this veil from an etsy shop and it is SOOOOO understated and so well made. I can picture it perfectly with your dress and venue… I bet she would custom make a cathedral length for you:

Anyways, If you really want mantilla I’d go short. I find they look so formal… otherwise, super long and understated, YAA!

I can just picture it with your dress so well, especially if its super long. Eeee, I’m excited for you! Keep us posted when you decide what to do!
