So I have my wedding dress, and now I am looking to get my veil. Problem is the veil that my mother loved (and that I really liked too) wasn’t a drop veil. The more I look at drop veils, the more I want one. The veil that my mother loves is gorgeous too, it just wasnt a drop veil. I tried it with a blusher and it all went very well together, BUT its all a haze now and we dont have any pictures of me in the veil. Even then I was thinking I wanted it all to be one piece aka a drop veil. To further complicate things we bought my dress from out of town so its not like I can just pop in the store to try on their drop veils with my dress OR even try on the one with the blusher again.
There are two different ladies that make veils here where I am currently located, and while my mom said “do whatever you want to do.” I know that if I do choose something she is uncomfortable with she’ll try to change my mind after the decision has been made. I just want to open her eyes to the fact that we were both caught up in the moment of finally really liking and choosing a dress that we didnt scrutinize the veil in the same way. Dont get me wrong the veil looked great, and if it had just been all one piece it would have been perfect! My mom doesnt understand what a drop veil is…..though I’ve explained it several times now. And with bringing in the ladies that could custom make something for me she is worried about it looking mammie-made.
To be perfectly honest, Ive had to pay a few things for the wedding that I wasnt supposed to have and my budget for my veil (while important) has dwindled and I feel I may be able to get exactly what Im looking for for hundreds less than the drop veils at the shop I got my dress from (sight unseen) and the one that I liked/my mother loved. We arent going to make another trip out of town back to my dress shop soooo ….. any advice Bees?
