I’ve had my heart set on a mantilla, but I’m not sure it goes with my dress. What do you think? I haven’t bought anything yet, so you be brutally honest 🙂
Here is my dress on another user (I don’t have pics):
Here is the veil I like: (BUT I would get it shorter)
What do you think?

I think it will look beautiful! I say go for it.

The problem with this mantilla veil is that it’s going to take focus away from the gorgeous lace on your dress.
If you are really set on it, I’d suggest doing the mantilla with either a MUCH smaller lace detail, or a thin satin edging

i don’t like the mantilla with that dress. i think the lace will clash. i would try a cut edge drop veil…it has the same shape as a mantilla.

i love mantillas too and that’s a very pretty one (can i ask who the seller is?). i can see what Dragonsus is saying, but compared to many mantillas, the lace isn’t really that large and personally i’m just not a fan of satin trim at all. it’s hard to tell in the pictures, but you should try and match the style and color of the lace as much as possible. i think if it had small lace flowers instead of the current border design it might be a bit more cohesive? or just forego the lace all together.

The seller is Maripolsa on Etsy. I’m having problems finding mantillas in stores. I see lots of lace edged veils, but none that sit on top of the head like a mantilla. Does anyone know any online vendors besides Etsy?

@EleanorRigby: i voted no. I mean it would work if you did it..but your dress…is….GORGEOUS…and is fine, and light and airy and has lots of detail, I just wouldnt want to pull away from the with a veil that has alot going on as well, if you know what I mean. I think a veil would look gorgeous but not that one.
Im thinking something more like this. BUT when i searched pictures i was actually really shocked at how many girls wear these veils with lace dresses and it looked gorgeous…so yeah. I guess its personal choice! (gah, i am NO help)

Thanks! It’s almost a tie… anyone else? Or anyone have any other suggestions?

Geez, straight 50/50… I don’t know what to do!
For those of you who voted no, is it because of the pattern or thickness of the lace, or do you just think the dress will only work with a plain veil?
I edited the poll to add more options. Wish I wasn’t so indecisive 🙂

Hey Twinnie!! I was looking through this post and I have to agree with Baileyh – I think the veil that she attached would be beautiful with this gown. I know it has been a while since you have seen it in person, but I was looking at it yesterday, and there is just so much delicate detail that the laced edged mantilla would obstruct. If you are not comfortable with a decision or a purchase, don’t make it! Wait until you find the perfect veil, and like the dress, you will know it 🙂

I think it’ll be gorgeous! Go for it!

I’m not a giant fan of mantillas and I’d rather not pair that dress with that veil

It will look gorgeous! I got my mantilla from the same Etsy vendor and seriously, Marisol is AWESOME!!! My favorite among my wedding vendors. For the quality vs price, don’t even bother looking in the stores. She charges about a quarter of what you would pay in a wedding salon for the same veil.
I wore a cathedral length mantilla with a thicker lace edging, with my Lazaro dress with floral emboridery and bling all over. I didn’t even bother asking for opinions here because I know conventional wisdom and most Bees who like plainer stuff would say they would clash. But you know what, it totally worked for me. I think they complimented each other very well and I wouldn’t have done it any other way. Your dress is not anywehre as busy as mine, the veil is subtle and graceful, and they will go together beautifully.
Here’s how mine looked:
