I have purchased Maggie Sottero Bernadette and am torn about what type of veil to wear with it. The bridal shop is making a lace insert to go into the keyhole so the entire back will be sheer lace. Will a birdcage veil be too much?

Really I think anything would work well with this baby but personally I think I would wear a llong cathedrall veil with it.

I do think that this is the kind of dress that any veil could work to show off your own personality with the dress. 🙂
I’m wearing a finger tip veil that was my mom’s. It was chapel lenth but we had it cut. I love it!
(It looks alitte longer than fingertip here but my headpiece will sit higher up on my head.)

FuturemrsSimon, I just had to check and make sure I didnt create this thread and forget about it. I’m getting married on Sept 29th…wearing Bernadette…and I need veil ideas, too.

A very sheer fingertip veil (to not take away from the back) with light crystal edging to pick up on the belt and crystal in dress.
I was going to go sans veil because I thought it would compete with the back. Was so wrong, totally finished off the look.

I LOVE it when I see a post about Bernadette! I can’t wait to wear mine ….I decided to go without a veil even though the one I tried on was AMAZING and @Rosers: is right, it totally finished off the look when I thought it might compete with the dress. I just decided the 200 dollars I was going to spend on it wasn’t worth the 30 minutes I was going to wear it.
This is basically a useless post because I don’t remember the name (heading to the bridal shop this afternoon though and if I think of it, I’ll ask and post later!) …but like PP, it was a sheer fingertip length and had crystal edging…the edges were scalloped as well. looked amazing.

I ended up going with a birdcage veil that has netting. It was shipped to my parents house (they live in IL and I live in DC) so I haven’t seen it yet, but they sent me pictures and I love, love it. My future mother in law bought me some vintage hair pins that will have bunched together at the clip.
I bought it from etsy here!
Wrkn925, wedding samezies! What shoes are you wearing with your dress?
Thanks for the help, ladies!

@FutureMrsSimon: I ordered Bernadette for my May wedding and I’m leaning toward a birdcage veil myself. It’s a vintage, unique look and it’s something I can wear all night. Thanks for posting this thread and congratulations on your wedding!

I just placed the order for my Bernadette last week and ordered a veil to go with it. I was iffy at first about covering that gorgeous back, but it really did complete it in my opinion. I went with a fingertip length veil, sheer enough that the back was still visible, and it has a scalloped lace edging that matches with the hem of the gown.
Personally, I think many things could complete the look of this gown! I don’t think a bird cage would look strange at all.

I also went with a fingertip length veil. I didn’t want to take away from the back or the train.
check out my trailer for more scenes of the veil:

@marguidelc: your veil is stunning with the dress ! I am getting married in 9 months time and am having the bernadette too. Can you advise where you got your veil, or what the specification is ? do you have crystals in the lace edging too ? Also – is your Bernadette ivory or light gold ? love your video clip!
