I am not sure if I am wearing my hair down or up…I probably won’t know until my hair trial a month or so before the wedding. My dress is pretty simple, it has a corset back and pick-ups on the skirt, but no beading or lace or anything.
I’d like to get a veil that could work for either wearing my hair down or wearing it up..I was thinking of this one from etsy on the recommendation of the Hive, but am not sure if it would be "full" enough, especially with hair down! Also, I’m not sure on the length…this one seems like a good medium sort of length!
Are there any great pictures of brides with their hair down and a veil in? What veil are you choosing? Show us pictures if you have any!

I found this one that I really like the look of, as far as fullness and height and everything goes…does anyone have an idea of how many layers there are on this veil or what type of clip there is for it?

Are you going to keep the veil on the whole time or switch to a birdcage veil or anything?

I think I am only going to wear the veil for the ceremony, then take it off for the reception!

How long do you plan for your hair will be when you get married? Have you looked at the knot.com? They have lots and lots of pictures.

It will be about the length of the picture above…in fact i REALLY like her hair and the way her veil sits on her head and its fullness, etc. I’m not sure if my hair would hold curl like that all day, but I think it looks awesome! I’m just not sure what type of veil to be looking for…is it possible for it to stay in if your hair is down?

I think it would stay, it would be attached to a comb so perhaps if your hairdresser backcombed your hair a bit it should be fine. Then your hair could be combed out after so it would be smooth?

Do you think the picture of the first veil would look like the picture of the second one, or is it not as full?

I didn’t decided on whether I was wearing my hair up or down until the week before my wedding – I just got a veil that would work either way!

My veil looks identical to the first one – except that mine has two layers, making it look more full. Wish I had a picture to share! I’m debating the all up/half up question too. Keep us posted on what you decide!

@amyrose: what type of veil did you get?
i love the fuller one with hair down- (maybe it is like 2 layers?) but with hair down I’m not sure how that would look!
@august15bride, where did you get your veil? I think that is what I will end up doing-getting one that is two layers because i am HOPING to wear my hair down…IF it holds the curl through the trial that is! Does anyone else have fine hair that they are worried about holding curl? especially ALL day through OUTDOOR pictures?

My veil’s similar to the first one you have pictured. It’s very sheer and almost not there at all — I call it an anti-veil veil (I’m not even sure if I’ll wear it. It makes me feel like I’m dressed up like a bride for Halloween) If you want something more full, you should definitely go with the second.
I also have fine-ish hair, and it definitely won’t hold a curl all day without tons of hairspray, so up it will go (nothing like limp hair in the Carolina heat and humidity!). The real clincher for me was all the hugging that will occur — all those arms squashing those curls and creating a rat’s nest. Hopefully having it up will keep it a bit neater.

@bluegreenjean-that is what I am afraid of too, my hair falling out and getting ratty…but I really love it down, and I have some scars, etc . on my back (nothing major, but nothing I’d want to draw attention to either! I am going to schedule my hair trial for the morning then see how it holds up all day. I definitely dont want anything really poufy, but since you said yours is so sheer its almost not there, i think i might try for a two layer one! You could always wear it underneath your updo? It might be bunched together more and look a bit more substantial. my sister did that and it looked really pretty! It gave her the veil look without maybe making you feel dressed up:)
