yeah Kleinfeld’s loves to hike up prices.. a very simple, short veil, which was what I was originally interested in, cost $250 at Kleinfeld’s but $150 at a local boutique. Later, when I changed my mind, I asked around and found a person who custom makes wedding dresses and accessories and she is charging me $150 for a much more complicated veil (with flowers–which have rinestones and pearls)..

The veils that I liked at David’s Bridal were between $200-$350. My mom is going to try and make one for me. =)

Veils are pretty darn expensive, ESPECIALLY if you are looking at a high-end bridal boutique.  I looked at David’s Bridal and the one veil that I loved (elbow-length, light beading around the edges) was $170.  That was still out of my budget, so my Maid/Matron of Honor and I did a little research.  We found veils at Walmart, same exact material and quality, already attached to the comb, etc.  My Maid/Matron of Honor is pretty handy with beading, so we bought the Walmart veil for $7 and she is putting on the beads for me.

Main point of this is that there are always options.  Check out ebay and etsy if you can’t go the self-made route. My SIL got a beautifully beaded fingertip veil on ebay for $20…perfect condition. You have plenty of time before your wedding, so I would suggest doing some research and making sure you’re getting exactly what you want for the price you want.  And heck, if the one at Kleinfelds is still what you want, go for it! 🙂

Veils are friggin ridiculous!

I am going to make mine, but you can find some pretty good priced, handmade ones on etsy.com.

$550 for a veil is pretty ridiculous to me… considering my dress cost $800!  My veil is a simple pencil-edged one and it cost me $20.  That said, my veil is not very important to me… I’m only wearing it for the ceremony.  Wink
