chicagoflybride:  YES! Bethany Moore Events– I actually found her through weddingbee, she helped another birde this past year. Best money I have spent so far. http://www.bethanymooreevents.com

She is picking up all of the coordinating for our wedding 9 months out for a great price. PM me for more info on pricing and such 🙂

Inflexibility was a huge dealbreaker for me!

Our day-of coordinator swore by this bakery as her preferred vendor. The baker was rude and would only do chocolate, vanilla, or marble cake, with white icing in a few designs. I was like, NOPE NOPE NOPE. We found our own baker who was flexible and willing to do what we wanted.

I’m currently dealing with an unresponsive wedding planner. Two emails have so far gone ignored in the last week. I asked a simple question that I only needed a yes or no answer for. Shouldn’t take a week.

I figure it’s prime wedding season and I’m sure she’s busy, so I’m cutting her some slack and giving her one more week to  respond. If I don’t hear from her in the next week, I’m terminating the contract. Thank goodness the cancellation policy is written in the contract we both signed so she can’t keep my money.

I’m big on communication. If someone is difficult to reach I’m not going to waste my time, or money, on them. Someone else will do their job and do it better.

chicagoflybride:  one florist I considered did that and it was great but for me what I’ve found works well is using images

ex: florist says centerpiece is $350 id ask them for an image of the size of it and flower examples and go from there. this helped me figure out that some of my cheapest quotes werent actuall the cheapest.

My deal breakers for offciants are (not very pc but still) : too young, religious, weird/high pitched voice, single or divorced, if they dont have back up in the day off and if they are not flexible in the ceremony (unwillimg to customize)

We were looking for some who is not too young, been married a while (“knows what he’s talking about” lol when it comes to marriage/commitment) not religious in any way, willing to customize the ceremony, perform a symbolic handfasting, has back up on the day off, doesnt have a weird voice and is in our price range. Got him! 🙂

chicagoflybride:  how did you go about “breaking up” with this vendor? Email or phone call? Had you already signed a contract or paid a deposit to her?
