So Fiance and I booked some AMAZING vendors for our wedding, and I am super pleased with their work. But one thing I noticed that they have all done that really gets under my skin is not answer phone calls or emails as fast/at all after down payments and contracts are signed. SO.ANNOYING.
Anyone else deal with this?
What are your vendor pet peeves?

I have the same problem with my vendors! I swear it takes some of them almost 2 weeks to respond to an e-mail, which is really annoying. That would be my main complaint.

@Bichon Frise: it SO aggravating. One of them would take LITERALLY 5 minutes to reply. I’ll send the email and receive a response right away. Now, it has taken them a week- 2 weeks to get back to me

They do tend to feel less urgency after they have the money and signature….
My pet peeve is vendors taking forever to cash checks…our caterer held our deposit for 3.5 weeks, our venue held one for almost two months. I called at week six to make sure everything was okay and she said it got lost in a pile of papers…it took two more weeks to make it to the bank!

YES. I really think it says a lot when you are no longer a priority to a vendor once they have the cash/contract. Luckily, it seems as if mostly everyone responds within a couple of days or so, so I guess it’s not so bad.

My annoyance was always if they ignored my communication preference. I’m easy to get ahold of during the day by email, not phone. I can’t really chat on my phone at work. I had a few that completely ignored my repeated requests to just shoot me an email and kept calling. Phone tag gets old FAST!

Totally in the same boat….it’s like I’m non-existant now that they have my commitment. Super annoying.

Same, I wonder if its because I am bothering them too early and that they’ll become more reactive closer to the date. In general my vendors aren’t concerned about getting deposits on time and seem to have very little process.
I love my caterer on one level, their food is awesome, the price is reasonable and they are very nice people. On the other hand they won’t give me a final bill, phoned me to tell me the cost of table clothes, and haven’t updated their pdf with my details. I also asked if they could write down their expectation for the timeline of the day of (so I could figure this out for myself easier) and she wrote it on post-it-notes. Part of me understands that these people are probably just more casual than I am, but on the other hand if something goes wrong I’ll be upset. Probably going to have to write up what we aggreed upon in text so that its there, and try to get a final cost 🙁

Oh totally get that pet peeve. My biggest pet peeve is vendors that don’t post even a hint of prices on their website. I don’t even give them a chance since I figure that if I have to ask, the price is going to be out of my budget.

Absolutely!! There was a time in January when I waiting on every vendor. It felt like I was waiting and not getting anything done! I even posted about it here.
