Seriously, I am so frustrated with all the vendors I am trying to deal with. I am trying to hire a caterer but they haven’t sent me the contact in over a week and a half. What are they waiting for? Then the rental company point person is beyond frustrating. He tells me he’ll call at a certain time, then doesn’t,says he’s free later so I try toschedule a phone appointment with him and he doesn’t have time anymore. I can’t get florists to call me back in less than a week. I mean are these people serious? How do they run a business if they are not responsive? I run my own small business. I call clients back within TWO HOURS of them contacting me, not two weeks. It’s absurd. It is also driving me insane. I am a totally reasonable person but their non-responses is making me want to call 3 times to get them to respond! Omg it’s making me angry. What is a normal expectation for a returned call?! I called a florist yesterday and she told me to email her some info. So in return I said, how long should I expect to wait for a response. She said four days! Four days to respond to an email? What the heck. I’m dumbfounded. Someone help me, am I being unreasonable to think my callsemails should be responded to within 24 hours during the work week if they are simple questions?!

I would say 1-2 days. Yes, it would be great if they called within 24 hours but you also have to remember that they are in the hospitality industry where they don’t just sit at their desk or office the whole time. AND it’s the middle of wedding season. Now in your situtaion, it’s a little different. If he told you he’d respond by a certain time and doesn’t, that’s not good. And weeks, I’m sorry, but week’s is TOO much. I think once you hit the 24-48 hour mark you’re within your right to call and just make sure they didn’t forget (which could easliy happen in all the chaos) but I wouldn’t freak out or think they have bad buisness practices if they didn’t call you back in 24 hours. Again, I understand your story is different and with your examples, yes, I would be very irritated!

I had a vendor that forgot we even had an appointment, so when we showed up they weren’t ready for us. It was an all inclusive venue and needless to say if they couldn’t get their stuff together well enough to know when they had an appointment there was no way in heck I was going to let them put on my entire wedding…

I voted for 2-3 days, but givent hat it’s wedding season, I wouldn’t be surprised it it took at least a week to hear back from them. Are you really getting married 9/1/12? If so, we’re date twins!

this is one of my biggest pet peeves, we also run a small business and answer asap! you need to show your customers you care… if you don’t need the money, then close your business.
i think 2 or 3 days is my max, then I keep bugging them and calling. I also make it clear to them that I am not happy because they didn’t answer my calls or emails.

Thank you all so much for responding. I felt like I was going insane. It’s really helpful to hear other people’s stories. Makes me feel less alone & aggravated. Whew. Thats why I love the bee! Thanks again everyone. I’m not totally crazy. Lol 🙂
And @Beckster actually the date is Sept 15, I forgot to update my profile. Are you getting excited its so close!? 🙂

I seriously think they should respond in 2 days. I find it obnoxious when it takes forever to get a response. I’m trying to confirm some details with my vendors and I’m getting so annoyed waiting for them to get back to me.
