I apologize for the long rant: TL;DR- the MAJORITY of my vendors are less than responsive. Is it just me?? Also I didn’t know where else to post this so Logistics it is.
The photographer I’d hired told me a month later that he had a scheduling conflict. Fine, whatever, they have a lot of senior photographers working for them so we will use one of them. My mom had sought out this photographer on purpose, but whatever.
The DJ canceled a meeting on me because he was sick a week ago. I emailed him to reschedule immediately, and haven’t heard back since.
I had bridesmaids dresses picked out from Alfred Angelo and was about to go with a couple of bridesmaids to try on- most of you ladies all know how that went. We’re back to square one on bridesmaids dresses.
I loved the makeup artist at my friend’s wedding. I tried to hire her but she was already booked. Ok, fine- not a big deal. She tries to schedule me with someone who does work similar to hers. It took like 5 rounds of emails to get the number of people correctly. 1 bride, 4 bridesmaids, and 2 moms went through combinations of a groom thrown in there (god knows why), no moms and 5 bridesmaids, or 4 bridesmaids and 1 mom…. I repeated myself in every single one of my 5 emails.
I want a boba milk tea bar at my wedding. I contacted a place a month ago who does catering. I haven’t heard back from them. Oh well, I can make it myself.
The lady I ordered my dress from runs her own small business. I actually tried on a lot of dresses with her without finding the one I liked. I found the one I was looking for at a large chain, but my mom and I opted to pay an extra $100 to support a small business and order through her instead. This was in May. From June through now, I’ve been trying to email her with ONE question. Three emails sent, zero responses. I get you’re busy, but god just tell me that it’s not the time and give me a time that I should be contacting you.
The caricaturist tried to charge me for a larger package than I’d asked for. I corrected them, they sent me an updated invoice with the correct package, but only 1 hour instead of 3. Seriously? It’s really not that hard.
I used Minted.com for my friend’s wedding invitations. I just got my save the dates from them yesterday (hence setting me off on this rant), half the envelopes were printed in a weird font with periods randomly scattered in the words. Like “Drive” comes out “Dr.ive” The return address labels printed without the city/state line. Where the hell was quality control??
I think the only people who have been cooperative so far are the venue (Bali Hai in San Diego), the photo booth, and I’m still in the process of booking a florist and bakery. Everything else, it seems like as soon as I sign the contract, they drop off the face of the earth. Contracts are signed, so I’m not sure what I can do to change vendors at this point. Most of these vendors came highly recommended with lots of positive reviews. I feel like every single thing that should’ve taken a few minutes has taken me hours because of all the bull. Ugh!
