- Wedding: October 2014 - Church
So we got married on October 3, 2014 and what a beautiful day it turned out to be!
Bridal Gown: Alliance Bridal (http://www.alliancebridal.com)
I bought my dress from Alliance Bridal in Moose Creek (about an hour drive). They have great selection of beautiful dresses. The sales associate who helped me was amazing. The dresses on the racks were not in bags so it was easy to see them. The alterations team was amazing. They recommended getting five inches taken off by the manufacturer and that turned out really well with the shoes I chose to wear (if I had been in flats it would have been closer to eight inches). I gained some weight so they let out the dress so it fit how it should have. They had a wide variety of prices, too. Alteration costs were about average.
Suit Rentals: Tip Top Tailors (http://www.tiptop.ca)
We rented morning suits and they were good quality. Would recommend using your own shoes instead of the ones from the rental – Darling Husband and one of the groomsmen had a sore foot for days after. Darling Husband had the correct size suit but all four of the groomsmen had the incorrect size so they had to go back the day of the wedding where they were pretty much ignored by the staff. It made Darling Husband feel very rushed as by this time it was 11 and they needed to get going after being told everything would be there first thing that morning.
Bridesmaids Dresses: David’s Bridal (http://www.davidsbridal.ca)
Meh experience. Prices were okay. Not very attentive and overbooked staff. Alterations not that great. Pretty much what I expected from that store.
Invitations: Wishtree (http://www.wishtreeinvites.com)
Great experience working with Brytani. She nailed down the style and even went as far as drawing the penguin for us since she could not find one we liked. Put everything together and everything was ready on time. Oh, and the labels she designed for the invitations were awesome!
Hair: Boss Arts Salon (http://www.bossarts.com)
Very happy with my hair. Kim was amazing, as per usual. There were a couple of things we didn’t notice until just leaving the salon and came back where she promptly took care of it. The other ladies were well taken care of and looked gorgeous. Prices were not that bad (most expensive was $60, I believe).
Makeup: Sommer Mbonu (http://www.sommermbonu.com)
She was amazing. She arrived early, and was just incredibly professional. She came to my mother’s place and did all our makeup there. A little more expensive than some of the ladies were expecting – but she did a really great job.
Florist: Tivoli Flowers
Very underwhelmed after a lot of high expectations. Some flowers fell apart.
Ceremony Location: St. John the Apostle Roman Catholic Church
Really, this is a beautiful Church – the inside is all dark wood. Our Priest (who is now retired) was absolutely amazing – everyone loved the Ceremony as our Officiant was light and interesting.
Photographer: Troy St. Louis (http://www.troystlouis.com)
Very professional – stayed in the background (I didn’t notice but this is what guests have told me) and took photos that people requested. He got photos of everyone and pretty much everything that we wanted. We got to take a look at the photos and we are so pleased with them (just over a month after the wedding). We are just waiting for the thumb drive to come in the mail.
DJ: Dynamix Pro (http://www.dynamixpro.ca)
Amazing, amazing, amazing. They kept our guests moving and dancing after dinner. One thing that they had us do was take an inventory that was quite long about our likes, dislikes and us. They made sure to adhere to our requests of things that we did and did not want (ie. No heavy rap). I think at one point 95% of our guests were on the dance floor – what an amazing time.
Reception Venue: NEXT (http://www.nextfood.ca)
Yeah, it’s in Stittsville, but that’s pretty much the only complaint. There was a slight hiccup when we met with Cynthia for the first time (our wedding coordinator) – she was an hour late meeting with us. That being said she did an amazing job and more than made up for it. We had our choice of linens and amazing food (the food came out hot and delicious). They were able to take all requests (vegetarian, glutten free, etc.) without a problem. Anyone who had issues with food had it taken care of quickly and without a problem (ie. Soup had cauliflower, a guest was allergic and so they replaced her soup with a different soup). The gluten free people were even happy with their desserts. Everyone was so full from the dinner that they could barely eat the late night buffet! Cynthia even helped me without my asking her with my bustle that had broke (she made a make-shift bustle for me). Our photographer and DJ were given nice vendor meals that they were happy with. If there were any issues I did not know about them.
Honestly, we are so happy with how everything went.
