Hi everyone,
I will be getting married in June 2010 at the Mountain View Grand in Whitefield, New Husband. I have most of my vendors all set, but I am still trying to make some decisions on ceremony music and hair/makeup.
I had my hair and makeup trial at the salon at the Mountain View Grand, but was not extremely happy with the results. I believe they use mineral makeup, which I have heard is not good for pictures. The problem is that the location is in the middle of nowhere and I am not familiar with another salon in the area. I guess my only other option would be to bring a hair and/or makeup artist to my location. Has anyone had any experience with this or have someone you could recommend for hair or makeup or both?
I am also wondering if anyone has any recommendations for ceremony musicians. Our ceremony will be outside at the Mountain View Grand. We are looking for a flutist/piano combo to play traditional music during the processional, recessional, etc. and perhaps during cocktail hour.
Thank you so much for any help you can provide! Happy planning to everyone…

Hi Shannon,
You may want to check with the following, as I know my clients have had luck with them and they have come to the hotel…. http://www.razzmatazzdayspa.com/
Also for ceremony music: http://mountainairestrings.blogspot.com/ they are right here in the Mount Washington Valley and they do travel 🙂
Hope this helps,

Thank you Meg. That is very helpful!
Also, just in case anyone is planning on using them, I didn’t mean for my post to suggest that the stylist at the Mountain View Grand didn’t do a good job. In fact, she was really nice and definitely knew what she was doing. Everyone at the Mountain View Grand has been wonderful to work with so far! I just wasn’t completely “wowed” with my hair/makeup when I looked at the pictures of my trial and I thought it would be a good idea to do another trial elsewhere to compare. The problem might very well be that I am just not great at choosing the best look for myself!!

Hey! I just had my wedding there in October and have tons of info….PM me if you want more info! But, I agree about the makeup. I ended up hiring a Sephora artist to come and do my makeup. It wasn’t so much the application of the makeup at MVG, but the type of makeup (mineral makeup) just looked unnatural on me. The hair I had two trials and ended up loving my hair…
I know someone who opened a spa in Littleton (I didn’t know it at the time of my wedding…) and I suspect they also do a great job with hair and makeup. http://www.freshsalonanddayspa.com/
Ceremony music – I have a few recommendations. Katie Richardson played flute for us – [email protected]. Our organist was [email protected]. You can tell you Erin referred you. They probably will have additional suggestions if you need them.
Good luck!
