All the calls stopped after I filed a complained with the Do Not Call registry and emailed the biggest offender to inform them that I would do that.  But I had not given out my number to anyone but David’s Bridal when I bought my dress.  I am guessing they sold my number to all kinds of vendors.

I am still getting postcards and catalogs in the mail.

Did you get the call where you ‘won’ a honeymoon, you just need to go to a 1.5 hour ‘meeting’ with them?  It’s a sales pitch for household items.  Those were the ones who wouldn’t let go.  When I called them back, I only got an answering machine that named a different company than the name they had used.  This is who I wrote the angry email to.  Then I filed a complaint with DNC, and suddenly ALL vendor calls stopped.

Just playing devils advocate. I have given my number to davids and I have NEVER had a phone call from any vendors. I gave my number to wedding wire and got one phone call but I checked the box that said I allowed them to give my information out. And I’m sure David’s had a box I checked that said not to give it out.

I’ve gotten a few calls from vendors who attended the Bridal Expo I went to, but I don’t answer my phone if I don’t recognize the number, and most of them don’t leave messages. I have gotten a TON of emails though, to the point that I’m spamming most of them instead of even looking for an unsubscribe option. I mean it’s been a month since the show, if you are that lazy, I’m not interested (and I’ve already chosen most of my vendors by now).

@Mrs Hedgehog: I did not get the Best Buy Club, but I also ‘won’ a spa session with some make-up company. They actually told me I got included in the ‘prize drawing’ because I bought my dress at DB. I put quotes around prize drawing because everybody ‘wins’ those.
Another vendor called two months into my engagement and asked me if I had already booked my DJ and photographer.  I lied and told her yes.  I could tell she didn’t believe me, but she never called back after that.

@crh1729: I have friends who bought their dresses at DB and never got those calls, and others who got harrassed like me and Ms Hedgehog.  I guess it depends on who is at the register when you do the paperwork.  I never saw an opt-out box.

Couple of suggestions… you can contact the producer of the wedding show about vendors that are harassing you (go back to the website where you bought tickets).  I work for a company that produces wedding shows and we have strict policies in place that will yank privileges from those that abuse the info.  As for email overload, set up a separate email…
