Is that a designer setting?  3k sounds rediculous for a ‘regular’ setting.

Yeah that is way overpriced. I have a halo ring but with diamonds all along the split shank (0.71 cts of diamonds just in the setting) and with 14K white gold, size 6. We paid $1600 for it.

@GelaMac:  That’s crazy expensive! Are there any other jewelers that can quote you?

That is stupid expensive. I would look at going online. David Klass, on ebay, for example, can probably do something up like that for you for a VERY reasonable price.

You can also look at Whiteflash or Brian Gavin Diamonds. If they do not have a setting, they may be able to modify or custom design one for you for a very reasonable price, especially if you want a plain shank.

Whiteflash for example has the Amphora for Princess is $1795:

Maybe they could modify their Guinevevre setting (which has a plain shank) for a princess (standard for round is $1450):

Either could also start from scratch and it might be worth getting some quotes from them.

Can you find a Gabriel & Co dealer nearby?

Do you want white gold or platinum?

I picked a few contemporary styles as that seems to be your taste, all are for princess cuts and some have plain shanks and some have sidestone shanks.

$1400 in 14k WG:

All are available in 18k and Platinum too, but obviously for more $.

@GelaMac:  You would still have a warranty with most online dealers. I had a lifetime warranty with my Brian Gavin rings.

I have not worked with him, but many have and have said he is GREAT to work with. He will custom design for you and does great work. He does CAD/CAST design. And honestly, his prices to me are pretty unbelievable, and I would not believe them if I had not seen some of his work! Truly amazing prices in my opinion. A few ladies on Better Than Diamond have DK settings, like Kanga’s “BellaRoo” setting. Gorgeous!

He will work with you to get your setting right, and will remake the ring before he even shows you pictures if he is not happy with it, and tweak things after he shows you the pictures.
