This sounds like shitty parents- just like a dog left to bark incessantly is a shitty dog owner. If you weren’t moving in the near future I’d suggest you complain to the apartment complex. i love kids- but endless screaming is not normal or acceptable.

I’m surprised to read some people saying they’re not allowed to have ‘adult only’ complexes and ‘family friendly’ complexes- we have that here and it seems like a win-win situation, not a violation of anyone’s rights.

Ugh, that’s awful! Glad you’re getting out of that. We also live in an apartment and our balcony faces the courtyard where there’s always children running/screaming unattended.

It had gotten so bad at one point that when I went to walk my dog in the courtyard one day these two little girls just came up and took one look at my dog and just outright got in his face and started SCREAMING bloody murder at him for no reason – you know, that high-pitched, ringing in your ears type of little girl scream.

They just followed us around while I tried to hurry to the other side and get out of the courtyard, and they just kept screaming in his face 🙁 It was the worst and I didn’t know what to do and it didn’t even seem like they were being supervised, or if they were then their parents/guardians didn’t even blink an eye since all of the adults present at the time were just chatting away with each other or not paying attention to anything… These girls didn’t look older than like 3 or 4 either.

It’s sad that these parents just seem to tune out everything. I remember not being the best behaved kid as well and I went through the screaming phase but it got squashed down super quickly after ONLY just one day (got mega scolded by my friend’s mom for having a screaming match with her). I can’t help but feel that just A LITTLE attention/tough love would do wonders…

I would probably go sit in the middle of the playground one night while they were out there and scream at the top of my lungs for an hour straight.

ETA: Probably, don’t do this.

I used to live in an apartment with a pool right by my porch. It was awful. No one cared they are right beside people living. Plus I worked at a restaurant so I would get home late, and sleep in until I was woken up by screaming. Plus, the managers did nothing, didn’t care at all.

hikingbride :  We once moved to a brand new city an hour and a half away. We had checked out the apartment complex, but not the actual apartment because none were ready yet. We moved when one became available and right outside our bedroom window was the little kids playground. Aaaahhhh! No screaming like you are talking about, but still. I agree with a PP, their screaming is probably amplified because you are moving. Haha! Cheers to the new, quieter place!

It’s funny, our wedding venue during July and August is a family cottage resort with kids programming and it is very focused on wholesome family fun.  It does wedding in the off season of June and September.  We wanted to have our wedding there because we want our friends with families to feel comfortable bringing their kids and there is lots for kids to keep occupied with.  Anyway, we went on July 1st as a couple to have an overnight in the main lodge of our wedding venue just to get more used to it and to really tour it thoroughly (also to taste the food.)

While I would totally go back if I had kids, I could not ever recommend it for someone without kids because the kids GO NUTS at night – 6pm-9pm it is like they are playing SCREAM capture the flag or something.

So yes, I agree, screaming kids is the worst, and also I don’t remember ever being allowed to scream when I was playing… I suppose it is better than them being attached to a screen/device, but it is piercing and annoying and I am so glad you are moving!
