Failing to pick up after one’s pet is one of my HUGE pet peeves. Our friends/landlords live upstairs and have a German Shepherd. She does her business in our (shared) front yard, and they’re always really good about picking up after her. But our jerk neighbor has apparently seen the Shepherd go in our front yard, so he lets his dog (a cute but apparently poop-filled Pug) wander over into our yard and NEVER picks up after her. Like our friends are really going to believe that the Pug-poop actually came from their 95-pound German Shepherd. I think they’re fairly close to picking up the Pug-poop and leaving it in our neighbor’s yard.

i would be collecting it and putting it on their doorstep with a note that says your animal left this in the yard… but then that would be me 🙂

OMG try living on a residential street in NYC where a gazillion different people leave s**t all over the sidewalk so that if you don’t look down the entire time you’re walking you end up stepping in it. I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve walked to my car on the way to work in the morning, gotten about a minute into my drive only to realize that I stepped in it cause my entire car reeks of poo. ARGH.

I 100% agree with Eloping.  We are dog owners and live in the city.  I can not believe how much dog poop is left on the sidewalks and in the scarce plots of Chicago grass.  It’s disgusting!!!  Rain, wind, snow, or shine I ALWAYS pick up after my dogs.  My husband and I have poopie bags stashed everywhere you could imagine.  One part of dog ownership is to clean up after your pet.  It’s like using the restroom and washing your hands…..they go together.

I lived in an apartment complex where you weren’t supposed to have pets, but the people two or three doors down had a dog for a short while.  They’d let it crap in our grass, which really made me angry.  I could never catch them letting it happen, which made me angrier.

One day I am doing my own business, and I hear barking just under the window.  I look out, and it is buddy-dog, making landmines.  So what do I do?  I open the window and yell toward the owners “I hope you’re going to clean that up!!!”, which startles the dog, who runs away mid-crap, dragging it with him.  It was pretty funny.

After that, our yard was landmine free.  At least from the dog.  Cats are a different story.

Yes! This makes me so mad, too. At our last apartment, we were surrounded by concrete with very little grass, and my neighbor would let his dog go out into the driveway/alley behind our building where we paid $50/month to park, and let the dog do its business RIGHT BEHIND MY CAR. One time when were getting home, we saw him peering out the back door of the building, and when he saw us, he quickly slipped outside to hide. He was obviously letting his dog do its thing without any intention of going out after it and cleaning up. ARGH.

P.S. I e-mailed my landlord about it, and she talked to him but it didn’t really get better. 🙁 Good luck, whatever you decide to do.

No. I hate it when people can’t pick up after their freaking dog. If I can manage in the rain, I’m sure they can, too.

I can’t stand it when people don’t pick up after their dogs.  I’m a new dog owner and I know that I try to pick up all the poop I can.  Even diarrhea, which grosses me out but I still do it.  We had a big problem a few months after we moved into our apartment complex,  the apartment complex sent out a note to everyone reminding them to clean up after their dog.  It work for about a week.

I keep telling my Darling Husband that i want to put an anonymous sign saying.  “Clean up after your pet, like the rest of us do.”  I don’t have the guts to do it.

I wish I could actually enforce the fine if you don’t pick up after your dog.  It would actually get people to start.

That is my worst pet peeve.  Just last week there was someone in my apartment complex who didn’t pick up after their Grate Dane!!!!

Needless to say I went and completely raged at the management.  Needless to say we are moving in the next two months and I will no longer have to worry about this.

People should be responsible for their animals… including their waste!
