Our wedding is in just about a month, and we still have not finalized what my blushing groom is wearing. We don’t have a bridal party per se, so at least we don’t really have to deal with coordinating, but honestly, the time has come to get this done.
Want some backstory to the riveting tale? Don’t mind if I do:
He always said that he wanted to wear khaki/linen pants with a white shirt, which I was OK with back in the early planning stages. Then I bought my wedding dress – which is less beach/earth-mother and a little more silk-glam that I had anticipated. I suggested gently that he might want to consider a summer suit. He. Flipped. His. Sh*t. I couldn’t believe the reaction! And trust me, he is a well dressed man, so I thought he might like the opportunity to wear a beautiful suit, barefoot, on the beach, with me.
So he flip flops for months, and then finally last month he says, “Baby, whatever you want me to wear, I’ll wear.” Music to a bride’s ears. I told him that I’d prefer a nice summer suit, but if he’s not comfortable with that, then by all means, lets go with the original plan, because I want him happy too. Nope, he wants a suit to make his future wife happy. So off to Brooks Brothers we go, and drop a small fortune on 2 suits – yes, 2. Each costs about what my wedding dress costs. Like I said, he’s a well dressed man.
Now I find out he’s talked to his brother last week, and he’s back to wanting the khakis. WHAT THE HELL.
I mean… I’m glad this is the biggest issue we’re having planning this Destination Wedding, but at this point, just show up in some swim trunks because I cannot have this disccusion anymore. I think he’ll come around on the suit, but I hate that I have to rely on my tricky feminine wiles…
