@UpstateCait: “Anyways, I’m going to go pour myself a glass of wine and BLAST showtunes (which he absolutely dispises) so he can’t hear his stupid xbox live friends. “

YES!

Sorry that he’s being like that. That kind of stuff makes me so mad.

Yep. I go through this too when it comes to his stupid video game.  Then he tells me how he’s so worried about playing these days because he thinks I’m going to get pissed off.  No, it’s the way he gets so consumed in something that isn’t real when there’s other things that need to be accomplished.

Haha, not to make light of your anger, but I love that you referred to your fiance as a douche.  It’s such a perfect adjective for these situations, and I’ve been known to use it myself.

My fiance can also be a douche at times, but rarely intentionally, so we usually get over it pretty fast.  Although last night, in the middle of a romantic and wonderful evening, we were talking about our relationship and I mentioned that he was the first guy who ever made me feel like I was hot.  And his response was something like, “well if I had known you in college I wouldn’t have been attracted to you then.”  I got really emotional and upset, had to leave the table, was teary in the bathroom, and couldn’t form words for like 20 minutes.  He thought we should leave, but I didn’t want to, and it almost turned into a huge fight that ruined our night.

Instead, I pulled myself together enough to explain how hurtful that was, and he attempted to clarify by saying that he’s seen pictures of me from college and I look so young and girlish, and he’s attracted to the strength and maturity I embody now.  It was only 6 years ago though, so while I’ve lost weight and look a little different, I had taken it as he wouldn’t have been attracted to me solely because I was heavier, and that everything he ever told me about loving my body was contingent on me not gaining weight.  It wasn’t what he meant at all, and while I still wish he hadn’t said that at all, much less in that inarticulate and nasty way, I know he didn’t mean that and felt awful about it.

At any rate, as much as I love being right in an argument and making him suffer for his occasional douchiness, I’ve learned to not let these situations ruin our time together.  We ended up having an amazing night (probably the most romantic/fun one this year), so I’m glad I got over it.

Btw – in response to your situation, my Fiance plays an absurd amount of video games and occasionally gets caught up in stuff instead of being a good fiance.  But I still usually express my frustration and move on, because the passive-aggressive thing exhausts me, and it rarely makes him want to be sweeter.

Glad to see my Fiance isn’t the only one that can have douche bag tendencies every once in awhile. We are currently not talking because no one excep him wanted to watch hockey.. Men and their sulking, they can act like such women sometimes! lol

Ugh.  Must be the alignment of the planets or something.  After my Fiance finished watching TWO stupid movies, I asked if I could have the remote and watch something.  He said I should give him my laptop then, since I wouldn’t watch if I was looking at the computer.  Well I’m sorry- what if that’s how I like to veg/relax…. and I got pissed!  I don’t like to be told what to do… and after making him dinner he has the nerve to make a comment about how my socks are on the floor.  WTF.  He just went for “a drive” and I am watching Say Yes to the Dress and looking at weddingbee. SO THERE!

@UpstateCait: I am laughing so hard right now thinking about you singing your new lyrics. Has he said anything at all?
