Wow sorry to hear that this happened to you. I see how stressing it can be to not being able to access your money but at least your banks has denied those charges. Its crazy how people these days get a hold of other people’s cards and just use them like nothing. This happened to my boss. He is in GA and his card number was being used in California.

Ugh, that’s terrible.  I’m so sorry!  At least you caught it in time and they didn’t get any of your money!

That sucks, someone attempted to charge 2400 to my debit card at a sporting good store monday. Still waiting on my debit card. The police report seems excessive. Call them back and tell them to overnight a new card. They usually won’t offer but if you complain they’ll usually help you out.

ETA: I suggest you make up a crazy story about what they were using your $ for. My person tried to spend $80 on gas, $200 at a liquor store and the aforementioned 2400. I like to think it was a rogue lacrosse team trying to get out of town but in desperate need of new uniforms as part of their disguise.

If it’s just your debit card that is cancelled, you should still be able to use a credit card and pay it off from your account.  Do you not have a credit card?

It’s reasons like this why I have a credit card from more than one bank, and have accounts at more than one bank.

Sorry this happened to you!  Even with having access to another account, it’s still a huge PITA!

Wow this just happened to me last week!  It was a bunch of little charges, but they added up!!  I can relate to your anger and frustration and annoyance of being bank card less.  I defintely say make yourself a nice drink.

ETA:  I didnt need a police report to do a fraud claim, thats extra annoying

And people wonder why I used to keep my money in a sock inside a cocoa tin under my bed…

I hate banks, I really do. But I’m too lazy to switch.

I am sorry this is happening.  The same thing happened to me a month or so ago.  I went to check my CC account and I couldn’t get in.  The bank had blocked my card and at first I was supper pissed.  Then I found out that someone had attempted to buy $90 worth of Sworvski crystal twice, bought food at a restaurant in Texas, (I’m in NY) and there was a pending charge for airplane tickets from United Airlines.  My CC company was able to get them off the card before my card actually got charged though.  They also said that if they did get charged that I just needed to sign an affidavit saying the charges weren’t mine.

    I hope everything works out.

@Kings7911:  Glad to hear that then!  As long as you aren’t spending more than you would on your debit card you shouldn’t be paying an more interest than you would normally (unless you have a crazy short grace period).  Look at it less as a large CC bill and more as just an alternative way to actually gain access to the money you would spend otherwise!

Sorry this happened!  I know it’s a pain.  The credit union I’m with now is great about keeping track of those things.  When I went to Vegas for my BFF’s wedding a couple of years ago I used my debit card for breakfast in Alabama, bought a book at the airport in Atlanta, and then bought lunch in Vegas.  I hadn’t even made it out of Subway in Vegas before my bank was calling (automated call) asking me to verify the charges.  I was terrified that they were going to cut off my debit card while I was out of town, but I’m glad that they are so on top of it.

Unfortunately this happened to be before but I got my card in 2 days! A The only reason the bank told me to call the police is IF I wanted to find out who exactly put charges on my card…but I figured it would be too much…just as long as I got my money back and the person got in trouble for it

ETA: and the scary part is…I had my card the entire time, so idk if someone at a restaurant wrote my number down in the back or from me buying online…so be careful with that because for a lot of websites its thrid party websites behind them so that’s where the scamming starts
