I don’t see how they are that bad. I mean, if these are the worst of them they aren’t really awful in my opinion.

I mean you looked gorgeous and everything looks good.

Theres no excuse for the mic thing.   Considering how important the ceremony is, any competent photographer would go check out the set up, take a peek through their lens, and make sure they could get shots without anything super distracting in the way. Even if they forgot to do that, I’m sure youd have rather he/she waited for a moment between readings or whatnot to quietly motion for someone to move the mic than take 3948234 pictures with a microphone stand in the middle of the shot. And even if that was impossible, he could have at least been creative with shooting angles and captures his face/your back and vis versa without the mic stand.

I would definitely demand a free photoshoot from a different photographer in the company to compensate you and get some nice shots of you and hubs.

Yep.  That’s pretty bad.  :S  Definitely laziness and lack of attention to detail.  What a shame. 🙁

I’m in agreement on the mic thing.  In your recap post, one guest photo clearly shows how far away the mic was and a professional should have been able to work around that.  We had hanging plants in the worst possible places and our photog ninja-ed her way around those, and there several.

Your guest photos also capture the glorious sunset, which I’m not seeing in the prof pics (could be the guest shots were later in the evening).

I am so sorry your saddened by this, but there has to be a solution.  Keep pushing until you find it.

@mhackney21:I am SO sorry. I know this has to be very very hard. I can be overly critical of picture style and I know this would also make me equal parts furious and insanely upset and emotional.

Have they said anything in response to your issues?

Keep in mind, you are not able to see anything except the sunset in these guest photos. Unless your photog had planned to use flash from somewhere in the area, you would not be able to see you and your groom using natural light if she had exposed for the sky.  Was there some restriction about flash during the service, or did she think that it would ruin the mood of the ceremony to have flashes going off throughout?

ETA:  I am pretty shocked at the location of the mic.  I really thought it was right on top of the two of you!  :S

@mhackney21:  You have every right to be upset!  Even the pic of you and your father is not centered, wtf?!  I agree with PP, you should definitely do a another shoot.  Please keep us posted, I want to hear what these people have to say for themselves.

I’m so sorry. I can definitely see why you are so upset.

I can totally relate, as 2 months later I have a really hard time looking at our photos and not becoming extremely sad / pissed. Our photographer had so much trouble with lighting / flash / blurriness that it’s ridiculous. No closeups of us, the entire ceremony is taken from one position from a million miles away, extensive use of the fisheye lens, terrible photos of our reception details, etc…

I feel your pain, believe me. I think it’s even worse because there’s nothing you can do about it. You can rant and rave and scream, but it won’t make the photos magically better.

Hugs…here’s hoping we both figure out a way to get over it. I think another photo shoot sounds like a great idea for your guys.
