@ Vonnegurl I love your solution! Sounds very useful- and the paying one another for not initialing/ cleaning would be a nice motivator.

I couldn’t handle a man who didn’t do his fair share. I’m something of a feminist and it just smacks of chauvinism when a guy won’t cook, clean, launder or take care of the kids of his own volition.

My Fiance is great–he enjoys (and is GREAT) at cooking. I trust him with my laundry and he helps around the house. He’s also excellent with children, so once we start having kids, we’ll be splitting up taking care of them 50/50. Many families survive on just one income, so we’ll both work part time to spend an equal amount of time with the kids.

He’s never let me down and works hard… even though we’re both busy with full time school and part time jobs. I couldn’t live without him!

My Fiance and I have separate households but we are prtty evenly matched in terms of cooking/cleaning preferences. We have negotiated who does what in a normal week for after marriage. I will add though that he says that he will more than likely fall off a little bit when it comes to cooking and cleaning after marriage…lol….so I have been warned.

Well, neither of us are good at either.  “Cooking” is usually something from Trader Joe’s you boil in a bag and dump over rice.  I make lots of things like egg salad, chicken salad, chili, anything in the crockpot….

We’re both so busy all the time.  Today we have a rare night where both of us are home, so we did make dinner and cleaned up a little, and finally hung some paintings we bought ages ago.  We’re both REALLY bad about doing our laundry, so we did a few loads tonight.

IM SO LUCKY!! my awesome Fiance do the cleaning, laundry, yard, shopping, and dishes. I cant even remember the last time I did the dishes. He is awesome. I cook and clean the bathroom because he hate it. Also I clean the kitchen because Im really picky when it comes to the kitchen.

Fiance does almost all of the cooking and over 50% of the housework. I do most of the vacuuming and mopping, but he does most of the picking up. And I don’t vacuum or mop very often.

Fiance does nothing.  I have to constantly ask him to chip in.  Otherwise he’s literally oblivious to dirt and clutter.  It drives me crazy because I’m really a neat and clean sort of person.  Sigh.

Fiance def helps, I have left a messy house and come home to a spotless house!!! ut he’s only usually home on weekends, so while he’s home, he has other things going on. When he does clean, he REALLY cleans, but in between I can’t get that man to clean up after himself. Like really, you dropped your pants and boxers in the kitchen before getting in the shower and you left them on the floor??? where I can see the leg holes that you just stepped out of? REALLY?!?!?!? He does do dishes and laundry. Cooking is another thing. Growing up, he was not allowed to cook, only fridge and microwave for him. So he can only make simple microwave things. So cooking is all me. He likes to help with grocery shopping, but I usually go alone or else the cart is filled with chicken nuggets, cereal, candy, and Little Debbies… you’d think I had kids!

My FH helps a lot in the kitchen.  he washes dishes ocassionally, and loves to cook! yum.  He loves to do yeardwork, and ocassionally i will come home to a swept and mopped home.  I don’t let him do laundry… but I consider myself lucky. He helps out quite a bit.

My FH loves to cook. But everything else is shared. If its messy we clean it up together 🙂

haha – i’m sure my husband would be on YOUR side! i actually do all the grocery shopping and the cooking (unless he’s grilling) – and while I like things to BE clean – i’m not a clean freak like him…he is CONSTANTLY cleaning. he also does the laundry (i don’t) because he’s particular about it…

Teddy usually cooks but sometimes we do it together…he enjoys cooking so he does it. I do most of the cleaning but I do live in a house that I purchased and he technically still lives in another house with roomates…so he does not clean very much here…which is something that i think i need to ask him to help me with since he does spend the majority of his time here. Laundry we still do seperately…and I prefer it that way because i know what of mine can or cant be placed in the dryer etc. He takes care of the yard also…so maybe I should back down on the cleaning part 😉

UGH, we fight about this ALL the time, it drives me crazy!! He does almost nothing, and does absolutely nothing without me asking…It’s totally like others have said, his mom did everything for him, still does when he goes home, and so it’s just like it’s what he expects me to do.  Which obviously does not fly.

To be honest, we’ve been arguing about this for almost 2 years now and nothing has changed, I don’t know if it will but you can be DAMN sure as soon as he’s out of school and working, HE will be the one paying for a cleaning service 1x week!

Yeah, mine definitely belongs to the coddled mommy’s boy group.  His mom still makes his bed, folds his laundry, etc. when he’s at home.  The most cleaning he’s ever done is the occasional vacuuming.  He just does his thing and expects that the world will be cleaned up around him without him ever lifting a finger.
