Sometimes I hate vendors.
This is a vent, about something rather minor, feel free to join in.
So, I got an estimate for the cost of renting transportation that will take my guests from the reception site to the ceremony site, wait, and then bring us all back. Basically, there is plenty of parking at my reception site, but only four spots at the state park I’m getting married at, so I have to spring for transportation.
The quote is actually below what I had budgeted – $383, under $400. The break-down is killing me, though. There is a bus delivery fee, a per mile fee for way more miles than it will actually go, and a fee per hour of use. I can’t imagine using the thing for more than 3 hours, and I am going to be charged for 5. Just cause, I guess.
The worst part is, if she had just sent me the total without this breakdown, I would have gone, “sweet!” and not thought at all about it.
I can’t stand feeling nickeled and dimed, though. Half the reason I steered clear of packages, I would much rather pay for every fork individually than pay for stuff I didn’t ask for.
Ugh! Thanks for listening.

I would confront them about it. Maybe they have time/mileage minimum?

I agree. Ask them to justify the per mile fee for more miles than it will be as well as the rental for 5 hours when it will probably only take 3. JoJo is right, maybe they have minimums or possibly this is a not to exceed (NTE) cost. All relevant questions to ask them to clarify.
I hear you though on this. When Fiance and I have submitted for a few online quotes we have submitted 2, mine requesting it for a wedding and his requesting it for just a party. We fully plan on argueing if any are different. So far it hasn’t been an issue but we just getting started contacting vendors.

I agree, breakdowns are RIDICULOUS sometimes. I had this catering proposal where the food cost $25/person, but with all the extra bells and whistles, they got it up to over $100/person. It was crazy.

Hmmmm… that would tick me off too! Is there any way you could try to negotiate? I’m big on that.

Those extras will get you, and they add up fast. At least you know what it’s going toward though. I would probably ask if anything can be negotiated or waved though, but that’s just me trying to save even more.

Thanks all. Yeah, I will go back at them. Part of my problem is that they are literally the only game in town, I’m doing a destination thing in a remote spot. Really the cost is just fine, it is just maddening, but I will call.
Thanks again for listening.
