Ughhh, I hate forced workplace socialization.  40(++) hours a week with coworkers is enough.

Sorry, I don’t have any advice unless you want to flat out say that you prefer to focus on actual work when at work… and on your own life when you’re not at work.

There’s a commmercial running here right now that says “If you don’t want to do____, then don’t do _____.”

Next time something comes up just say” Thats a great idea. I’m not able to organize it but I’d love to attend”. If necessary follow up with the same words recommended for bees dealing with uninvited plus1’s – ‘I’m sorry, that won’t be possible.”

Ugh I hate office party crap in general.

We have an actual ‘party planning committee’. The funny thing is, it is a clique of women who act like divas all day and then when there are events to plan, they pick and choose the people to celebrate stuff for. Stupid.

Offices are not a place for parties, cakes, balloons, gifts, etc. Puh lease. Do your work and party somewhere else. I’m sorry I’m a Debbie Downer, but I spend all week with you people, I don’t want to celebrate stuff with you, too.

I would just do what @julies1949: said..’I’m sorry but that won’t be possible”. You might feel like an a** the first time you say it, but after that, you won’t feel bad…just relieved!
