So I sent out a friendly little group text to my BM’s a few minutes ago. This morning I received an email from our makeup artist whom I signed a contract reminding me each Bridesmaid or Best Man is $55. Well, I immediately get 2 texts back out of the 3 girls getting makeup done saying that they want to do their own makeup. HOLD UP. I have signed a CONTRACT with the makeup artist. BEFORE YOU FLIP OUT ON ME: I ASKED each girl if they wanted their makeup done AND told them the price BEFORE signing the contract. 3o something days before the wedding they tell me they don’t want makeup? Sorry not happening. I exlpained to them the whole contract thing, that I would lose my deposit, and not have anyone to do my makeup that day if I broke the contract. They were fine with that and said they would pay. It just really upsets me that they tried to back out. One of the Bridesmaid or Best Man is pretty clueless when it comes to weddings, she had no idea I had to sign a contract (which really isn’t true because I told her I was signing a contract for the makeup last year and asked her if she wanted in), but I guess she didn’t realize you can’t just back out of a vendor contract. Now, the other girl that tried to back out just got married last year. She knows this shit. And although she said it was fine and that she didn’t know I signed something…welll…BS…..eaach and every Bridesmaid or Best Man knew I signed a contract. That is why I told them the price for make up last year and asked if they wanted in! I couldn’t sign the contract if I didn’t have 4 people getting makeup done. ARGH.

That sucks since they had previously agreed. They may have forgotten about the contract to save money. Maybe you could offer to pay for part if they’re concerned about the money? I know this stuff is super stressful right before the wedding. If it makes you feel better my Bridesmaid or Best Man who got married two months before me called and told me she wasn’t coming to Rehearsal Dinner because she was going to ride in the car with her husband to pick up the step kids an hour away. Seriously? She was in tears at her Rehearsal Dinner because a bridesmaid was late. People forget after their stress is over how stressful it was.

@emilygrace07: I can’t afford to pay for their makeup. I went over budget on their gifts (which I now regret after this situation and my awkward bridal shower amongst other things ).

It kind of sounds like everything worked out. I think you’re just feeling stressed and it might be causing you to overreact a bit. You said a couple of times that you told the girls LAST YEAR that you’d be signing a contract….is it possible that maybe they forgot, or didn’t think it was an important detail? Try to take it easy on them, they sound like they’re pretty easygoing. It will be over soon!
