So, I just got some news from one of my 5 BMs. She’s gotten an amazing job, and I’m so thrilled for her. This is basically entrance into a middle-class career, and the fulfillment of her dreams, and a reward for her hard work. But it does mean she’ll be working all summer. She can take one day off and arrive the day before my wedding. I’m not bummed because she’ll miss the bachelorette and the rehearsal dinner – that’s small stuff. I’m just so sad, because she’s one of my best friends, and I haven’t seen her in years. This is one of the reasons I was really looking forward to the wedding – actually being able to spend quality time with friends and family who I never get to see.
Anyway, I just had to get it out. Thanks for listening.

@Beluga: Awww that sucks and its totally disappointing! Hopefully once she`s been with the company long enough to take days off, you guys can schedule a spa weekend or something. Does she live really far away, and my question mark key seems to not be working, but imagine that there is one at the end of that sentence lol.

That sucks and is great all rolled into one. I know how you feel, My SIL, whom I adore, was going to be my Maid/Matron of Honor, but the army had other plans. I was happy they got the transfer they wanted and needed, but I will really miss my bro and SIL at my wedding.

Aww that sucks that you won’t get to hang out with your friend. But fantastic for her 🙂

Are you able to schedule a trip to visit with her? Maybe a few months after the wedding?

@tksjewelry: Ditto, sucks and is great at the same time. At least it’s for a good reason and hopefully you’ll be able to catch up at another time. Just cherish each moment she’s around. 🙂

Thanks, ladies. I will definitely keep an eye out for academic conferences in her city – I’d love to visit her sometime!
