julies1949 :  This makes me curious, how often are you around people vomiting? I don’t think I’ve ever heard someone yell before barfing, haha.

It’s election time here in Australia and I am SO tired of the general attitude of people I know, both in person and on social media.

  • It’s not fair that I can’t afford to buy a house, the government should help me! – yes, Melbourne and Sydney are expensive, but you are double income no kids, and you want to buy a 4 bedroom house in one of the better suburbs, close to the city as your starter, and you blow money on anything and everything.  Look at a different city, or look at the outer city, or buy an apartment, and cut down on the designer clothes and going out, and the latest phones and your luxury car loans.   You can always look at upgrading once you have some equity.
  • The government should be giving public transport, sanitary products, school lunches, etc etc. to everyone for free! – Free isn’t a thing.  So many people seem to think that the government just has all this money that they create themselves.  We would pay for this out of our taxes.  There may be a case for paying for certain things out of our taxes and GDP – but stop calling them free!
  • Welfare should be lifted for all – The cost of welfare is astronomical and crippling the country.  We need to be looking at other options.
  • Maybe the politicians should have their wages dropped to the pension so they know what it’s like – I had a politician in the family, and they worked incredibly hard.  They had to be away from their family a lot, missed lots of events, and even when at home, were always working.  They may not always do the right thing and some are worse than others, but they do work very hard and are entitled to an executive wage.   Their wages are also a drop in the bucket.
  • We should stop sending foreign aid and keep the money here to spend on drought/pensioners etc – foreign aid is important, especially to our neighbouring countries, as we want to keep them stable.  We also want to assist with natural disasters regardless of where they occur.
  • We should tax the rich people more! – The top 10% of wage earners in Australia pay 50% of all income tax.  Instead of always looking for more tax, we should be spending what we do have more responsibly.

Our country isn’t without its problems, but it’s a damn good country to live in and most people in the population and certainly everyone in my circle have a damn good life.  Everyone I know all have a roof over their head, food in their stomachs and certain luxuries in life.  Stop whining that the government should be giving you more when you are comfortably middle class.

Man I got a good chuckle out of this thread. Thanks OP!

Mine isn’t funny but it annoys the crap out of me to see the constant social media posts about mom guilt. It’s not a universal thing, I have a lot of issues but guilt is not one of them, and you don’t need to look at me like I have two heads when I express that no I don’t feel guilty in relation to work and my kid. Ever.

wrkbrk :  Way too many people. There is literally no need for any noise from the person at all.

wrkbrk :  I had an ex who yelled while throwing up. Just loud projectile vomiting. It was… not special. It scared me, honestly.

I’m going to have a vent about my mom, who is a lovely woman but doesn’t seem to understand that her “jokes” are sometimes not funny. I put “jokes” in quotes, because I know she’d be at least somewhat happy or pleased or perhaps relieved if I went through with her suggestions.

Suggestion 1: “A woman who works for us wants your dog! Can she have her? You could do with less dogs!” (This is in reference to is one of my four dogs, whom I’ve had since she was 8 weeks old. She’s almost 10.) No Mom. No. No one can have any of my dogs. She does the same thing with another one of my dogs. “Your cousin loves that dog, you should give her to him!” No.

Suggestion 2: “The family cat is really getting old. Are you sure you want to take her when you relocate? You could always say bye bye and put her down. She doesn’t need that stress.” This one infuriates me, because the cat is 17, but in good health. She’s been in our family since I was 15 and in my home for four years and adapts well. There is no reason AT ALL to euthanize her.

My mom is not an animal person and passive aggressively disagrees with the number of pets I have. Tough shit, lady. We all make our own choices, and the fur kiddos make me smile.

My vent is about people who complain when they go online and see spoilers of their favorite shows. I’m sorry but what did you think was going to happen?! I’m not even one of those people who posts anything that happens in movies/shows, and I still find it incredibly annoying when someone complains that a spoiler was posted! Just avoid social media until you can watch it, or maybe just plan things better and watch it when it airs! I’ve seen so many people complain about people posting spoilers in the past few days about GoT. It’s a wildly popular show. Did you really think no one would post about it at all?! I’m not even a fan and even I knew there would be spoilers! Lol.

Besides, does anyone actually just go to their DVR and delete the episode after they read a spoiler? I highly doubt it. They still watch it and I’m sure there are a bunch of other interesting things that happen in the episode, so I’m not sure we can even refer to them as “spoilers” lol.

OK. I’ll contribute. Here are a few of mine..

1. Adults that cough or sneeze and don’t cover their mouths. In this day and age? Honestly, even little kids can remember to do it.

2. Being asked to “assist” or “help out” with a task and ultimately ending up with the lion’s share of the work and responsibility. Just because I tend to get things done people assume that I am the one to approach to organize and arrange their projects. I’m just as busy as you are!

3. My husband and I both have successful careers. We both worked very hard over many years to get to the place we are now. He has become somewhat prominent in his field and subsequently provides us with quite a comfortable income. I can’t tell you how many women I have met at parties/events or even casual aquaintances that have in all seriousness, asked me to help set them up with his associates/ friends. Really? I don’t know you from a hole in the wall and you want to use me to “land a husband” from amongst our friends? One woman actually used those words ” What did you do to land a husband like that?” Ummm… he pursued me when we were both starting out?

4. People out for dinner that pay more attention to their cell phones than their food or the person across the table from them.

Kind of nice to get those off my chest.

loz24 :  Love everything you said. “It’s sitting in a metal can for four hours, being herded like cattle for hours and then getting skin cancer” LOL

Possibly unpopular opinion – endless baby updates. IDAF if your child shat everywhere/ didn’t shit everywhere for the first time today, or that you had WOW 2 whole hours of unbroken sleep but you are still #soinlove. Fuck off with your dribbly, smelly, screaming (adorable, snuggly) children. I want one, thanks.

Getting VERY angry with potential vendors ghosting me.

Had one MUA i really liked and wanted to book, and she didn’t reply for 8 weeks, i chased a few times, and then get a reply “I’m no longer available on your date – sorry i didn’t reply sooner” Which is SO RUDE – i wouldn’t make someone wait that long and id have booked her if she had replied in time, shes basically forgotten about me and booked in another bride instead.

Then i had another MUA i was about to book, asking her for her details to send the deposit and she hasn’t replied for 2 weeks. Shes read all the messages, i can see it, shes posted all over her social media but just isn’t replying and its so annoying because this is the one area i’ve really been struggling with finding someone whose work i like within budget.

Here’s my vent! I am sick and tired of the gun violence in this country! I am a teacher in Colorado and we don’t have school today because of a serious threat. I don’t get to do my job, students don’t get to learn because there is a very real risk we might be killed. This is not a war-torn 3rd world country! Students have the right to a safe schoole environment not interrupted by lockouts and lockdowns. We treat the symptom, but not the disease! Ok…vent over, I wish I felt better, but hey at least that took up a little time, now to figure out what to do with the rest of my day since I don’t get to work…

julies1949 :  Hmmm….I find this interesting. I don’t yell, but my body makes this “blaaaaagh” noise. I don’t control it either. But some people can bend over and puke without any movement but for me if I puke, my whole body convulses and I break blood vessels in my face. I have never been able to stop this.
