Hey all. I’m having such a hard time! I need to try and find a place in the tristate area (eastern PA can be added to that, as well) for $70/pp or less (before tax/service). We haven’t set an official date yet, but we are looking at May or August/September 2015. We are looking for a unique space where we can have both the ceremony and reception, that includes (or allows us to bring our own) beer & wine, that isn’t a reception hall or fancy hotel (we are not the elegant and formal types). This is proving very hard, but we really can’t stretch our budget as my fiance lives in another country and all the visas and stressful paperwork are very expensive!
I’ve been looking into campsites, as well, but I can’t seem to find many that mention weddings, and the ones I’ve emailed haven’t gotten back to me.
If anyone has any ideas for me, I would greatly appreciate it!!

@ifwinterends: How about Lambertville Station, in Lambertville, NJ – it’s a big barn type building overlooking the river. On Friday evenings in the summer there are fireworks over the river. I don’t know what the cost per person would be, but one could easily find out. A friend of mine had her wedding there and she loved the place and the food.

I’ll second lambertville station. I went as a guest at a wedding there and it was awesome. But it might be pricey. We paid $149 for a room there as the wedding guests. I doubt its in the $70pp range.

@ifwinterends: What about renting a vacation house? That’s what I’m doing. I actually found mine through a local realty company, but I found lots of other options that I looked at on vrbo.com. You’ll find many options that allow weddings. (I live in Alabama and I had around 20 houses to choose from that were in my price range and allowed weddings…in your area you’ll surely find many more) You’d be able to bring your own alcohol and could either cater yourself or hire a catering company (or cater from a local restaurant or something.) We rented for two nights…the night before the wedding and the night of. This is allowing us to set everything up on Friday afternoon and hold the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner that night. Then my bridesmaids and I are staying in the house that night. Then that gives Fiance and I a place to stay the night of the wedding before leaving for the honeymoon the next morning.
