So I am planning for a wedding in May or June of 2016 on a budget less than 5k . I live in central MN and am looking for something pretty and simple , rustic, but not super expensive. all of the barns (which I though cheap right? Wrong.) are so nice but also so expensive ! I am getting discouraged already! I want something sweet and not tacky I’m almost ready to not have a wedding to save myself from the tragedy of a cheap wedding. What do I do? Any help would be appreciated!

Think ouside the wedding box. If you go for a traditional wedding venue, the costs will be high. What about a restaurant? Sometimes you can rent them out for the whole night if you guarentee a certian food/drink minimum will be met.

The wedding budget is $5,000 or the venue budget?
Check local park and state parks. Google Minnesota state park weddings, there are some beautiful photos… some state a Lazy D State Park. There is an awesome cabin at Itasca State Park, can you rent that out?

5,000 for the whole wedding/reception budget.

Do you have any relatives or friends who belong to any organizations, clubs, fraternities etc and can get the use of them free? The more you can save on the venue the more you will have available for food and beverages.
One of my favorite weddings ever was a budget wedding. The bride chose her whole color scheme based on the chairs she was able to borrow at no cost from the local community hall.

I love that! What a cool idea and it looks so beautiful!
I don’t think I have any family members that are part of anything.. Good idea Though!
