I am so sorry that happened to you! I literally was thinking about that exact thing the other day and what I would do if it happened to me (we are only 26 days out!). You will find somewhere, I promise! Google places, tell your story to people you may not normally and they may have someway to help you, anywhere you can post locally, do it. Take a deep breath, it will work out 🙂

I’m sorry bee, those photos were rough to look at. Can’t imagine how you feel.
I would start searching for a new venue asap, I’m sure that you can find something!

I think they’re taking up some sort of collection for a couple who’s wedding is this month at this venue. I just heard it on KISS [Mikey & bubba]
i am so sorry bee. Hopefully you’ll be able to find something better in a good timeframe.

wow! that is seriously messed up. sorry bee!
did you have wedding insurance? that might help offset some costs. good thing is five months isn’t too bad but hope you find something you like just as much. I’d recommend take a step back, mourn the loss of your space, keep inventory of what you already have (decor, attire, wedding style) and keep an open mind when you go back on the hunt for a venue.
good luck!

slomotion : I’ll have to go back and read about your experience. This gives me hope, though! I saw that another bride-to-be was supposed to get married there next Saturday. I can’t even IMAGINE what she is going through.

FrenchToastnCoffee : Thankfully the only thing I’ve paid the venue is the $250 date/room place holder deposit. I have actually been coordinating with the events planner to have my food tasting and pay more toward the event.

If you have a photographer or DJ or florist reach out to them especially the photographer. They are at venues practically every weekend and can suggest and make a connection with one of the spaces they’ve worked with a lot.

MrsCoffeeSnob : I’m so sorry to hear (and see!) your loss of venue!! Was there anything in their contract that if anything happened to their venue that they would reimburse any sort of costs? Or assist you find another venue?
We were had to look for another venue with two months to go.
We had an earthquake that damaged a lot of buildings around the city, the ballroom we had booked out was attached to a hotel (which was fine), but the ballroom itself sat on top of the nextdoor carpark which was damaged and therefore we weren’t allowed to use it. We had literally sent out our invites that week before as well. And we had to accommodate near 300 guests….which is hard to find in our city.
So a lot of wasted money on postage, and the trouble of finding a venue big enough.
It can be done though! Start calling around ANY venues that are suitable. We ended up having to use a venue that was 40 mins out of the city, so we had to hire a bus to help transport peolpe.
In the end, we preferred the wedding atmosphere that the new place gave us! Also remember that decorations can do a heck of a lot to jazz up a room. Before decorations, the room looked like a mess (think old space which curtains falling down), and after it looked AMAAAAAZING. We did hire pros to decorate though.

CRISIS AVERTED, Y’ALL! I found a new venue and signed the contract yesterday 🙂
While it isn’t what I originally wanted, it opened up my guest list more (and I don’t need to have a B-List!) and some other options. Thank you all for the well wishes!
