- Wedding: September 2010
We are planning our South Padre Island wedding from Austin, and my parents live about 30 minutes from the beach. They have been great about going back and forth whenever we need them to.
Apparently the venue we decided on (and booked) went through a major renovation for the worse. They painted the walls all kind of weird pastel colors and added in about 100 neon beer signs that they refuse to pull off the walls or unplug for our wedding.
Needlesstosay, I’m moving venues. We’re getting married in October, so we have some time to book a new place.
Then, my parents called and a national BIKER convention is coming to my small, sleepy island the weekend of my wedding! We’ll have 6,000+ motorcyles on the island!
I’m not snooty enough to say that I don’t want to share the island with them, but the motorcycles make me nervous about having an outdoor reception (if I can find one) for several issues:
- noise controll (not from the people, but the masses of motorcyles)
- Traffic control on the main road (the island is about 6 miles long, and 3 miles wide)
- Staying a ‘major’ resorts because conventions shoot the price up of hotels
NOTE: Biker people do not scare me, nor would they deter me from moving my wedding away from the island. My issue isn’t with them — It’s just their loud machines that I’m concerned about. 🙂
WHAT TO DO?!
