I have really enjoyed reading everyone’s posts and ideas. I have a few questions regarding venues. I have seen about 7 venues in the Philadelphia and surrounding area. The two that have been the best for what we like are Colonial Dames and Aldie Mansion
As of right now our guest count is about 100. We may invite a few more, but we know that not all 100 will come to the wedding. I do have concerns about each venue.
Colonial Dames-The facilitator who I met swears the ballroom can fit up to 120 people. We saw it set up for 50 and could not really imagine it fitting anymore. Also, the rug going up the stairs was badly stained.
Aldie- Location is not as convenient for my guests. (some are coming from sc and other states) The price is just a little bit more than we were hoping to spend.
If anyone has any testimonials or advice that they can offer, that would be great!
Thank you so much for your help.

I just had my wedding at the Colonial Dames (you can see posts http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/diy-rustic-flowers-from-my-august-21st-wedding and http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/heres-some-of-my-vintage-inspired-diy-projects-from-my-august-21st-wedding). We had 84 people and just used the outside and downstairs of the house. It didn’t feel crowded, but I can’t imagine that 120 would ever have been able to fit upstairs.
As for the rug…maybe as Adrianna if she can have it cleaned? I noticed the stains as well, but was hoping no one would see it at night.

My sister had her ceremony and reception at Aldie Mansion in 2003 – it was such a beautiful location. I would have considered it for my own wedding but I wanted to do my own thing rather than do exactly what she did. I definitely recommend the venue as well as their in house caterer. Also, I absolutely loved having the cocktail hour outside on the patio. Feel free to message me if you have any questions at all!
