I can’t speak for that place exactly, but in general a deposit will go towards your final bill.

I’ve never seen a deposit not go toward the final bill. It’s basically just a first payment toward the bill.

Our venues deposit was a damage deposit. We got it back a week after the wedding! Our venue was strict in terms of preserving the land so we weren’t allowed to use tacks or nails on trees etc, or even pick the flowers.

Yep it should go toward the final bill. It’s probably a particular percentage of the total bill hence why it’s a kind of random amount.

Yes, a deposit is a portion due of the total amount. Read the contract.

Everyone seems quite certain, but venues differ. Our deposit is the same as another PP’s: it’s a damage deposit. That’s all we have to pay up front, it does NOT go toward our bill, and it will be refunded if we don’t damage the venue.

Generally, it does go towards the total cost – but worth asking for the peace of mind. There may be other refundable deposits to pay though – our venue, for instance, puts $500 on hold and then releases it if nothing is wildly damaged, much like hotels do.

Sounds like if you have one, you need to read your contract carefully bee.

kaitm :  maybe. it could be credited towards the final bill, it could be a damage/security deposit that gets refunded. are you sure it’s not just the venue fee? that amount could be the fee the venue charges just for the use of the space (so doesn’t count towards catering, etc). i have heard on one of these boards where a deposit was NOT credited towards the final bill or refunded (and wasn’t considered the “venue fee”) – that vendor was shady AF and no way in hell would i be booking them.

check your contract, talk to the venue. you really should understand what you’re paying for **before** you fork over any money…

Our deposit does not go towards the final bill. We paid $1,000 which goes towards any damages and they take the payment for the security personnel out of that also. We will get any remaining a week or two after the wedding.

The only way to know is to call them directly, or, it should be in your contract.
