- Wedding: October 2013
I am hoping you lovely bees might be able to help me. I have recently got engaged and already my head is whirring with ideas and plans. Since I was a little girl I have pretty much had an idea of most of the wedding plans I would like – apart from the venue! I find the venue part the most difficult to decide on. We are going to be having the ceremony in the church where we live (a very rural area) but are in two minds as to where to hold the reception….
One part of me would love to have the wedding in a beautiful hotel about 10 miles away from the church in our nearest city. The positives to this would be having a beautiful setting, full three course wedding breakfast and of course much easier accommodation options for guests (as there aren’t many accommodation options close to where we live). But the negatives would be it is very pricey and would really push the limits of our budget – and as it is far away from the church we would need to arrange transport which again would be pricey.
Our second option is to have a much more relaxed reception in the hall in the village where we live. We would buy all the alcohol in so guests wouldn’t have to buy from a bar and would probably have a buffet style dinner. Obviously the positives would be saving on price, we could decorate exactly how we wanted and it would be close to the church so people wouldn’t have to worry too much about travel on the day. The downsides would be much more planning involved and the lack of accommodation options for guests.
I really am in a pickle as I just can’t decide whether I want a lavish affair or something plain and simple. At the moment the main aim is to make sure it’s a really fun day for our guests.
Does anyone have an insight into this or any other options?
Thank you, and sorry for the very long post! x
