When you emailed possible reception venues to get basic information, what did you ask? It’s so much easier when they just post their basic packages and rates on their website!
So, anyway; packages, cost, capacity, catering options? What else?

I think the best way to get all of this is just to say: “I’m interested in having my wedding reception at your venue on October 1, 2011. Can you please provide any available price lists and venue information?”
After they send you a basic overview, you can get more detailed with your questions. Good luck!

yep, i agree with BlueShoes! Thats what i wrote too….. that you are interested in having your wedding reception there, what date, and approx how many guests. Alot of the venues i emailed sent me pdfs or word docs of information packets after that first email with costs, caterers, more specific info. Then call or email with any unaddressed q’s.

I agree with Blueshoes2. If you send something generic you often get more information than you would have thought to ask initially. You can then fine tune your specific questions to the venue. Good luck!

Thanks ladies! I was at first planning to do just what you said, then I got all paranoid that they weren’t going to give me any information or something crazy like that.

I actually have been asked to come in to discuss some rates – and it worked out to our benefit!
Because the economy is so bad, the managers are negotiating rates WAAAYYYYY below the printed rates. In case you get a request to come in for a tour – dont be discouraged that they dont want to give you a rate – they might want to give you a really good deal to guarentee your business.

Like evv said, places are really negotiating their rates. My venue has given me some really great deals.

I asked if they were even available on my date… the ones that were sent me tons of information! Actually, my venue (that I pretty much knew the was the one from the beginning) was one that I sent to a fellow bee, who emailed them and passed the info along to me! Then all I had to do was to ask about the dates.
