So Fiance and I are starting look at venues to decide the best place to have this shindig. We live in Brooklyn but my fam lives in Ohio so we are looking into NW Ohio/SE MI area since it will likely be cheaper than NYC.
Did any bees have their wedding or been to a wedding in the Toledo or Detroit area and can suggest some venues? We are having 150 people and would prefer a location where we could have our ceremony and reception. We have a modern theme so a loft or musuem would be awesome, but a really nice ballroom would be fine. Any suggestions would help! Thanks 🙂

Hmmm…in the Detroit Area: Colony Club ( LOVE it- Gorgeous), think they have a 10K minimum on Friday/Sunday, I would definitely have my wedding there if I had a larger guest list; Roostertail (very nice); I also love the Westin Book Cadillac, but it is definitely the priciest of all!

The Ford Conference and Event Center in Dearborn (across from the Henry Ford) has a very modern gallery area. It’s where we are having our reception over Labor Day weekend. Prices were reasonable, too…

There are plenty of choices for you. Try the Max M Fisher Music Center http://www.detroitsymphony.com/page.aspx?page_id=87 they have several rooms available. I think you will you like the atrium area because of its modern look. Other options: Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village(pricey), Arab-American Museum, and COSI http://cosi.org/events/.

- Wedding: May 2011 - The Royal Park Hotel
Although I’m not sure of their pricing, a couple of modern options in the Ann Arbor area are the University of Michigan Musum of Art and the Ann Arbor Art Center. Best of luck!
