So Fiance and I have been researching venues and we found one that we really love so far that fits both our budget and our vision. We have not boooked it yet since we want to check out a few more places but it is exactly what we want. But there is one small problem….
There are 2 ballrooms and we would use one for the ceremony and the other for the reception. The problem is that we want to rent 150 chiavari to use for both the ceremony and reception. So what do we do with the guests while the chairs are being moved? The venue told us that typically the cocktail hour is held in the reception room. They sometimes offer the lobby for groups under 100 but that might be tight for 150. We hate the venue chairs and would have to rent chair covers anyway and we cant afford to rent 300 chiavari chairs. They do have an outside patio, but it will be early November in the midwest so kind of chilly.
Would it be tacky to allow the guest into the reception room while chairs are being moved in? Should we just squeeze everyone into the lobby for the 20-30 min it would take to move the chairs? Any other ideas?
