First of all, congrats on the engagement! It’s a very exciting time 🙂

My question is, what’s wrong with the 1st weekend in November at the venue that would ‘do’? Weather can always be hit or miss. I’ve never heard of a venue not booking a weekend due to potential weather issues many months out.

DIY at your friend’s place can be done if you’re going for a casual kind of affair and it’s relatively small. Personally, I wouldn’t try doing it from the bottom up because there are just so many things to consider, e.g., parking, the bathroom situation, brining in tables/chairs, lighting, tenting, etc.

Are there any other venues in the area you could check out ? I’m a firm believer of shopping around. Good luck!

Ah I see. Could you rent heaters for the venue?

If you are really super organized, you could do it at your friend’s place. Or, hire a coordinator. There are many pieces that need to come together and if one person isn’t overseeing it all, some things can get overlooked. You don’t want to be a crazy woman the day of your wedding. It’s great that people have offered to help, just make sure you/your coorindator can delegate and make sure people know exactly what to do.

How many guests are you thinking of having?
