hum…that’s a hard one.  My first thought was the High but that can be pricey.  How large of a reception (# of people)?

What is the Budget for the venue? Also, is she trying to be downtown or in the metro Atlanta area. Metro Atlanta may be cheaper than trying to do something in town.

Tell her to check out Whitlock Inn in Marietta.  Very nice looking (Inside and Out), great service, great price…yadadada.  All in all, if we  were not eloping I would do it here 🙂

Jacqueline Casey Hudgens Center for the Arts http://www.artsgwinnett.org/
They seem to be rebuilding their website, but I’m sure you could call/email them to have them send you photos of the statue garden, tower room, exhibit hall, etc.

It’s in Duluth, GA, north of the perm. but easily accessible off 85N (easy directions and several hotel options with shuttle service to the airport).

Check out Canoe Restaurant in Vinings.  They were flooded recently but will be up at full force in no time.

Beautiful wedding and reception (all in one) venue there!  Gorgeous gardens that overlook the Chattahoochee River!  Their food is divine!  It’s our New Years’ Eve tradition to eat there!  Or for a special occasion.

Oh, there’s also an affordable yet elegant venue in Cumming, GA (where I live about 20 miles north of ATL).  It’s called “Tam’s Backstage” and it’s a great restaurant with gardens also (perfect for an outdoor ceremony) and several event rooms for receptions upstairs.  My favorite room there is “A MidSummers’ Nights Dream” and “Phantom of the Opera” event room.  Both quite elegant!  Very reasonable in cost!

Their owner also knows of a lovely barn (new and gorgeous) overlooking a lake which can be rented for weddings and receptions too!

Their food is also very good!

I have heard amazing things about the Carl House –a venue just outside of Atlanta, on the way to Athens, GA.

They have an amazing garden and they host receptions at their southern plantation style home on the property.  Here is their website: http://www.carlhouse.com/

Good luck!
