I am in need of some help. My fiancé and I are looking for a location for our wedding reception. We know that we are having. . .
- 50 – 75 people
- No alcohol
We are open about. . .
- Food – we would prefer to cater our own food, or willing to pay under $50 per person.
- Venue Rental Fee – we are willing to pay less than $1,000.00.
- Location – we live in the Reading, Pennsylvania area, but we are having photos taken in Philadelphia area; therefore, a location in those areas or in between would be best.
Please help. We are trying to secure a place as soon as possible, but we are on a budget.

I don’t want to be a Debbie Downer but I highly doubt you will be able to find something in the philly metro area for the prices you have listed above, at least for a dinner reception. I did extensive searches from NJ shore out past philly into lancaster and I did not find anything in the range you are asking for. That being said, I did find one venue, Richmond Hall ( link below) that was the most affordable but the general area was not going to work for us. The inside is neat, needed some repair IMO when we toured it but they may have renovated since we were there.
Do you think you could do a version of a trash the dress session and have your pictures taken in philly or perhaps do bridal portraits (with groom of course) but do them after the wedding, this way you could search for venues closer to Reading? I think you would be able to get more for your money out there and possibly be able to swing a dinner reception. If you are open to “alternative receptions” think about and price saturday morning and sunday morning receptions.
If you are willing to reconsider the photo location, try Stone Mill Inn, my sister lives in York and had her wedding at this venue. It is gorgeous! They allowed BYOB so they were able to save $ on the bar costs and they did a wedding for under 10k with a Sunay evening reception ceremony on the beautiful grounds.

This is very doable! I am not sure where you are interested in having the reception but since you are not having alcohol, have you looked into local parks or state parks? What about fire halls/VFW’s?
Other places that could work for you and that I have contacted are Yardley Inn, pricing starts at $43/person and there is no rental fee. Phoenix Sports Club in Feasterville is $50/person. P&P caterers start at $49 but that includes alcohol so the price may decrease if alcohol is not included, but I am not sure of their minimums.
Homestead Hall in Jenkintown is $700. Rockledge Ladder Room is $800.

Here is some information about the parks and rental fees:
Central Perkiomen Valley Park in Schwenksville has a pavilion that you can rent all day and that cost $125.
Hibernia County Park in Coatesville & Warwick County Park in Pottstown have pavillions for $70-90
Norristown Farm Park is $150/day but they charge $1000 for tent fee.
Fort Washington State park is $145/day.
