xraynikki : how many guests? I’m seeing some okay all inclusive rates for the inn at reading. I’m on this website: eventective.com and they’ve got lots of places listed. Generally for all inclusive, you should target hotels.

There are quite a few that popped up on the link below in your area, not sure if you’ve exhausted this list already. Stirling Guest Hotel looks really nice. Are you having trouble finding an affordable venue bc of high guest count, a venue that fits your vision or is it that venues are already booked? Hopefully other bees will come along that are familiar with your area. 🙂

Edit: read the date wrong, oops

xraynikki :  I’m currently looking into going the restaurant route, which you will probably want to look into as well if your end goal is to not have to put a lot of time/money into decor or chasing multiple vendors.

I have a list of several options for myself and only included the ones that provide linens, dishes/cutlery/glassware and basic setup as part of their event packages. I’m sure there are many, many nice restaurants in your area that do the same!

xraynikki :  Got it. The main issue I see is your guest count. $13k for 150 guests on a Saturday evening seems like a stretch. In my area it would be darn near impossible. Unless your open to brunch weddings or can find an all-inclusive restaurant that does weddings idk if this is feasible. Is your fiance open to trimming down the guest list? Does he realize the average cost of a wedding that size? Like have you gone over quotes or sites with him?

People often suggest low cost places like parks in this case. I would caution you to think carefully about that option. That was our initial plan but the amount of decor needed and vendors required to make it work was not nearly as budget friendly as we anticipated and we only had 50 guests max.

xraynikki :  the inn at reading is 75-115 a person and includes some form of open bar it says on that website I mentioned. Their website says packages include appetizers and a cake!

xraynikki :  hmm…I get it. That is tough factoring in the drive time and those who have kids. But if neither your mom or sisters are contributing then sometimes tough decisions have to be made to accommodate the budget. Its your wedding, you and your fiance have final say on where it takes place. What two places did you find?

Sorry, I’ve got to agree that $13,000 for 150 people is a pretty big ask and may not be feasible. At the very least, you will need to scrimp on alcohol if you absolutely cannot cut the guest list back any further.

Let’s assume you are able to do food for $50 a head, that is $7,500 right there – over half your budget. That’s before venue rental, photography, dress, suit, DJ, table wine…

This is again where going the restaurant route might be able to save you some serious $$$. Most of the restaurants we have looked at don’t have a fee to rent the venue, they just charge a “minimum spend”. Most of the ones in our area have a minimum spend of between $8,000 and $15,000.

xraynikki :  I was looking at a couple places and came across Stokesay Castle. Have you checked this one out? The silver package pp for 150 is roughly $13,090 with ballroom set up fee, taxes, site fee and gratuity. Includes beer and wine only, linens, chairs, flatware, menu tasting and cake. I didn’t price the required bartenders or add in a bridal room. Looks like a nice place. 😊 I would continue searching and keep an open mind. You might need to compromise to fit your budget. Also don’t be afraid to ask if package pricing is negotiable. Never expect a discount but it doesn’t hurt to ask.
