@kmjj:  We are gettign married at the Heintzman House. It’s in Thornhill and very affordable. They provide you with a list of caterers that they use on regular basis and we are also having 120 people.

Catering for 120 people is aprox 55$ per person (sit doesn 4 course dinner). They provide a bartender and you provide your own liquor, which is great becasue whatever you don’t use, you can return to LCBO for refund.

I was looking for a one place shop but this place not only satisfied our idea of our wedding but also turned out to be most cost effective.

Another plus – you get the full mansion on your day, no other wedding. They do ceremony and reception there.

@kmjj:  If you’re willing to go a bit north, I’d try The Manor in Kettleby (right at hwy 400 and hwy 9). They have a great rate for the time of year you’re getting married, which includes a full meal and full bar service. Should come in at under 115 pp. Plus it has a great fireplace and cozy feel.

We are going to look at the Berkeley Church this weekend. It has a very rustic look to it from the pictures and I think it will come in at your price point. I’m really excited to look at this venue! We would be having both our ceremony and reception here if we go with it.

I also wanted something a little more unique. Here are some of the venues I would have liked to look at but couldn’t because we had too many people:

Sunnybrook Estates

Canoe

Roswater Supper Club (I think its called that)

Spadina House (for the ceremony)

For a little more, I think you might like the Hart House too.

Good luck in your search!

@Lulume:  Really? Yuck. I will have to make sure to sniff around when we go this weekend, lol. What did it smell like?

@LuckyinLove17:  You know, when you go into an old bar where the beer has been spilling over wood for 10 years + ? That smell 🙁

Out of all the places that we looked at ( i was looking for a unique venue) The Heintzman House was the only one that impressed me with cleanliness and who its run by. It can only fit 120 people for a sit down dinner but we didn’t want more then that anyways. The price is very reasonable and it’s a historical site owned by the Town of Thornhill.

I really liked The Doctors House in Vaughan however the lady that runs the weddings there scared the crap out of me by being all over the place and also heard a ton of reviews that there is tons of hidden charges that you don’t really know of till after.

@LuckyinLove17:

The Berkeley Church is a gorgeous venue, with a delicious menu!! I’ve been there several times and I’ve never noticed a smell so I wouldn’t worry about that when you’re checking it out this weekend! 🙂

@pennylou13:  Thanks for that! I was getting worried 🙂 I am really looking forward to seeing it this weekend and whenever I tell someone that is where were are going, they always know someone who got married there and have great things to say about it.

I’ll let you know if we end up booking it!

@pennylou13:  Yes! We ended up booking at the Eglinton Grand. It’s a converted movie theatre! I love it!! We did go to the Berkeley Church but our parents were not really thrilled with its gritty, rustic feel. They loved the Eglinton Grand though! So exited!!

I know you didn’t mention anything out west, but the Ancaster Mill is a beautiful venue!! And it sounds like what you might be looking for!
