- Wedding: March 2011
I am having a desperate time trying to find a venue. We have several factors weighing against us and I am being to lose hope.
Problem #1, my Dad was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer SOOO we moved the wedding up from late October to March to ensure that he was able to attend the wedding. With his health, we have to try to stay indoors and ensure that he will be able to access the location. We looked at the firehouse in the heights but the room is on the second floor, so that knocks it out.
Problem #2, since we moved the wedding up our budget has decreased significantly. We are now looking at $2,500 for ceremony and reception. We are only having 50 people and do not need liquor. My dress, veil, and other good stuff is bought so those items are NOT factored in to the $2,500. I also have about $400 aside for some DIY favors, flowers, etc. We have another $1,000 ish allocated for photography. We have found that NOTHING in Houston is in our price range. Maybe I am just not looking at the right things but it is making me crazy.
Problem #3, two brides. I found two historic locations I loved in Galveston, but the representative said she could not rent them out to LGBT. It broke her heart but they Archdioceses wouldn’t allow it. It is the churches right to deny but it still broke my heart. The other affordable location in Galveston gave us a decent reception location but did not really help with the ceremony.
If anyone has any suggestions at all, I would really appreciate it.
