The Hayloft for sure! I love barn weddings and find them so romantic and beautiful. I would be having one if I could find one around us but there aren’t. It’s beautiful and the inside is just amazing!

    Hayloft –

I wouldn’t want to have to worry about bugs, heat, etc and a venue that’s just getting started in the business.

I think you should keep looking if at all possible. The Hayloft sounds like it could work, making the most of the layout, and perhaps you can work with another more personable staff member instead of Ms. Snappy. The second place is too risky with weather, bugs, and the people new to it all they may not know how to handle an emergency as well as a more experienced venue. However, it seems like you have a little wiggle room on your time frame, so keep looking a little more and see if you find a place where you *do* have a good vibe all around.

I agree with PPs – Hayloft just seems to have so much more going with it.  You never know what to expect with the weather, and I definitely would not want bugs flying around!

Another vote for the Starlight barn here. I love the open air look and if you have your ceremony in the late afternoon/evening, it shouldn’t be too stifling hot.

Also, in addition to the clear plastic screens, maybe consider hanging sheer netting or tulle across the windows? It would look lovely and romantic with candles and twinkely lights.

I was married before and my reception was in an open air barn like Starlight. There was no problem with the heat or the bugs even though it was one of the hottest days that year (June wedding too).

I agree with trying to talk them down a bit more…maybe suggest that they might be able to use some pictures as advertisements? As well, I have a picture on pinterest where they used multiple sizes and colours of round paper lanterns hung in the rafters of a barn…it was gorgeous and economical.
