I like the hotel. The modern venue just reminds me to much of a club and not so much a wedding space.

If you honestly love them both, I would go with the cheaper of the two…but then again I am a budget bride and everything comes down to $$$$ for me.

@magglemay-2013:  Same. Does the modern space come with rentals? Thats a hell of an expense. In the research i’ve done, the hotels/wedding halls/full-service joints are cheaper and less stressful!

Depends on whether you have a theme or color scheme in mind.  It looks like the downtown space could be made over with lighting and decor to match pretty much any theme (is it an art gallery by chance?)  The hotel conference room is going to have that classy feel based on the wooden doors and warm color palette; you would need to pick a color scheme that complements the color scheme in the conference room or risk clashing.

@magglemay-2013:  I second her rec regarding budget.  How does each space fit into your budget?  What amenities come with the rental and what would need to be rented from other vendors?

I personally light the downtown space because it’s different and I think you could really impress people with sleek, modern tables and chairs instead of the overused chair covers with bows.  But it really depends on your vision of what the reception should look like.
