my Fiance and I have found the PERFECT wedding venue for us.. It is a beautiful 10 acre private outdoor setting. The only hang up- it’s out in the middle of nowhere! Hotels are approx. a 30 minute drive away and I am wondering if thats too far to drive after an evening wedding? Some of our guests are in their 80s/90s. The venue is also about 40 minutes from the airport though not a lot of people will be flying in for the event. Are we not being accommodating enough? I have heard of people getting shuttle service so maybe that could be provided to and from the nearest hotel? Give me your experience and input please!

Yeah 30 minutes from the nearest hotel is too far in my book. When you start choosing the hotel for the guest room block, see if any offer a shuttle you can engage for the journey– not likely, at that distance, but definitely worth asking (most free hotel shuttles only go 2 or 3 miles). If not them hire a mini-bus from your local limo company. Have it make one pickup so all the guests depart the hotel at the same time and one or possibly two returns at the end of the night. Most likely you’ll have to pay for the entire time from first pickup to last drop-off but it’s really the right thing to do, especially if there are a lot of elderly guests or folks who like to drink. Since you have a lot of elderly guests you may want to ask for a handicap-accessible bus. They are usually the same price.

@dorothyclaire: My Boyfriend or Best Friend had her wedding roughly the same amount of miles from the church as she loved that venue and it was very pretty. I could’ve stayed over but decided not to, mainly because of our dogs, I digress. The fact that the airport is that close is handy too. You could select one hotel, negotiate a special rate for your guests and organise a shuttle.

Thank you for your responses ladies! I guess it will be easier to picture once I view the place and drive the roads on monday. There are 7 rooms available to guests so I can have those availabe for our 97 year old grandpa and some others who request it. It’s hard to make the choice between a beautiful location and ease of access!
