What a whirlwind. I’m glad you updated us with good news otherwise I would have been totally stressing out myself. We didn’t purchase wedding insurance (just ran out of time) but I supposed these are exactly the kind of instances where it comes in handy. Best of luck!

So very glad you two have been so proactive about this! Sounds like it’s going to go well. So very very sorry this happened. Definitely pursue getting the deposit back even it it means legal matters.
I understand the economy is tough, but did he file bankruptcy?
I’d definitely consult w/an attorney on this one..but first give Mr. Benson a chance to right his wrong by giving thr $$ back.
I am in healthcare and I understand also that people’s health can turn on a dime, but if he took your money in good faith, and suddenly has had some medical compllications, then he should give it back in the same good faith as a professional.
Do you have a receipt from him for the deposit? If yes, then great b/c he will be liable for services not rendered. A deposit for nothing will not sit well with the courts.

emilyjen –so glad to hear you have found some new vendors! if you need a bar person, I’ve got a great person. He can help with estimating and purchasing the alcohol (if you’re doing it yourself) and can coordinate hiring a couple of other bartenders, etc. PM me and i’ll get you the number. thanks for the shout and good luck!

emilyjen – I’m so glad things seem to be coming together. I’m not sure if you’re still looking for a cake, but I highly recommend The Cakery located at Jamie’s on Main in Stowe. Both Jamie and Michelle are awesome people who make the most delcious things… http://thecakeryvt.com/. I’m from Stowe too so love to help out in any way I can.

You guys are so sweet! The wedding was PERFECT. It rained all week up to it but then could not have been a nicer day! As you can see, here I am with my maids, flower girls, and mom strolling down Church St to the limo.
Union Station in downtown Burlington bent the rules and allowed us to have the reception there, only one block from the original location. They have a 2nd floor patio that looks out over the lake and drew a crowd all evening.
The best vendors ever are: Vermont Tent Company, Catering By Dale, Andy Mager(photographer), Baylow Cakes, Ava Bishop Bridal, Sean Greenwood(dj), Drink(bar), Stray Cat Flowers, Fly by Night Design(lighting), and Main Street Landing(location). Oh and the Round Church in Richmond is to die for perfect for the Vermont Wedding!
I’m not sure there will ever be anything as fun as your own wedding day! Even a mishmosh of quickly thrown together plans will come out perfect if you let them! Good luck to you both, may your day be as amazing as mine.
